Group,
We are in 2009... F1 cars go to up 18k since the mid-eighties.
Even my last 2 cars (Rx8s) wouldn’t go anywhere below 6k...
Any good sport car should easily sustain long time driving above 5k without any issues! Besides a pleasant engine noise..

I think this is a great video. It shows how reactive it is in that type of driving conditions. He's barely pushing the car. Imagine what will happen pushing for more.

Kannibul... your Z look sharp!!

If you're so concerned about oil temp rising, you can install the Nissan Motorsports oil cooler now (or wait for the OEM Nismo cooler). I don't think there has been a single member that hit the limp mode on street driving.

Nissan USA's statement:

Aggressive driving of the 370Z on a race track at sustained high engine speeds can cause increases in oil temperature and may activate this engine protection system. To avoid activation of this engine protection system and these reduced peak engine speeds, Nissan recommends an oil cooler be fitted to the 370Z before driving it on a race track. A Nissan Motorsports accessory oil cooler kit is available for customer purchase through authorized Nissan dealerships for race track use. The part number is 21300-SS370.

An oil cooler is not necessary for normal operation of the vehicle on public roads. The addition of an oil cooler would have raised the price of the car and potentially moved it out of the reach of some customers. Value has been a core principle of the Z car since the original 240Z and we choose to uphold this core principle by not adding additional costs that are unnecessary for normal use. For those individuals who choose to drive their vehicle on a race track, the oil cooler is available as an aftersales item.

The oil cooler is a Nissan Motorsports item and as such is sold without warranty, express or implied, unless expressly prohibited by law in which case the warranty provided is the minimum required by law. The installation of the Nissan Motorsports oil cooler does not, by itself, “void” the vehicle warranty. However any damage caused by the installation or use of this part is expressly excluded under the terms of the Nissan New Vehicle Limited warranty.

If it's not too much trouble I would appreciate it. Have been on the fence about this, and will probably for peace of mind install one in the near future. I am hoping it will be a little cheaper than the Nissan Motorsports cooler. Thanks!

Did you watch the same video as what's posted? He hit 220.

THe post you reference is someone who took their car to a track.

<gee> - perhaps you should consider reading more.

Better yet - try and get your Nizmo into limp mode, on the street, without doing anything illegal and/or stupid - like driving the car around at 4K for extended periods of time.

Oh, wait, according to your info, you drive a 350z. Go buy a 370z, drive one around and know that the oil temp issue is being blown out of proportion.

I did the same thing, until I TRIED to get mine to go into limp mode, and was unsuccessful.

Hmm maybe you need to read through the whole thread. And the site for that matter. Same issues, track or not the car is getting hot.

I have driven my car like I said at 4k and held it there for a long time. My temps didn't go over 210. But I also don't own a 370z.

I just don't understand why you keep denying the problem when it's on the video and many forums.
