That's BS, i doesn't matter where you bought it they MUST honor warranty work if it applies. I'd call nissian north america and complain if they flat out won't do it.

Thanks. Will do. The service technician was extremely knowledgeable and nice. i have taken my car to my local dealership for oil changes and with my previous Nissan as well. I don't think his intentions where meant to be bad.

:iagree: 100%. I bought my car in Atlanta and the dealership here in El Paso didn't even once mention taking it to the dealership i bought it at.

I have some spots on mine too, but that might be something else. Going to wash, clay, wax the car this weekend to see if I can get them off. If not then I don't know what to do. Could not get them off the last 2-3 times I washed the car.

Those look like mine (see post #96) but I only have 2 spots. You seem to have several . I tried wax, clay, wash, etc with no luck removing it. Try a splash of white viinegar on a q-tip and seeing if it will remove. Worked for my water spots and others people have had the same success.

Will try that out if all else fails, thanks

3000 grit sand paper and some compound by hand and it's gone.

Skeeterbop 11-21-2011 09:04 PM

Well, went in for the repaint and they suggested to bring it in next week since they wouldn't be able to finish it before the holiday weekend due to having a few cars a head of me in the body shop. From hearing this I assume they will be doing a full repaint of the hatch and not just spraying over.

LakeShow 11-21-2011 10:03 PM

^^I was told the same to come in next week instead of tomorrow which was my appointment. They are no painting my car though, they want to try heating the imperfections out the paint. I never heard of this but if this corrects it, cool with me

Skeeterbop 11-23-2011 06:12 PM

Decided to give it a bath today. While I was at it, I clayed it and then waxed it since it has been almost 4 months since i waxed it last. Must say it looks great, although 30 minutes later when I took the photos, it was already getting dusty again :shakes head:

Aww man that looks good. I've been neglecting my car.

Skeeterbop 11-23-2011 10:41 PM

Yeah, I had to wash it today even though it is supposed to rain Friday. On Monday we had a mud storm (Part sand storm, part rain) and my car was filthy.

Wow! Are you repainting the whole thing? Hope it comes out 100%. I'm in the same boat, may have to repaint. Ugh the one time I don't get a black car it's a headache. My point of Gun metallic was that it look good of course but wouldn't be a headache. Honestly I can't sleep at night with my paint imperfections lol.:eekdance:

LakeShow 11-26-2011 09:36 PM

Honestly this Gun Metallic issue with stains and imperfections needs to be reported to Nissan Corporate and allow them to issue some type of recall or something because at this point it is out of hand. I spoke to a handful of members on this board and a few people in the detail and prep departments of different dealers and this is an on going issue with this specific paint that ended up with cars being repainted or replaced.

I went to a different dealer today and saw they had a GM 370 on the lot. I go and look at it and guess what the same exact marks. That's absolutely nonsense. The guy in the back told me that the dealer is aware of the issue and knows the cars have to be repainted and don't say anything to make a sale. He actually told me they repainted one car and sold it and owner did not know lol. This is absolutely ridiculous. Honestly Nissan needs to step up and take fault for their mistakes. This is factory defect.

Skeeterbop 11-26-2011 10:10 PM

They should do something, I agree. So far though it seems that everyone is being taken care of. The dealer I went to is going to foot the bill instead of taking the issue up to NNA. As long as I'm satisfied with the quality of the repaint, i have no issue with how they handled it since it is a quicker resolution than waiting for authorization from NNA. Also this is an issue that can be covered under warranty, it doesn't pose a safety hazard, so i don't see any recall coming out about it. It will be up to individual owners to take it up with the dealer/NNA.
--Edit--
NNA could just put out a bulletin about the problem that way the dealers would be aware of the problem and know that NNA will warranty it. I told the dealer all the info I knew about the problem and it was the first they had heard of it.

Apoc370z 11-26-2011 10:22 PM

i dont have any of the problem on my Z, at least not yet.. are the marks under the clear? it is caused by something that landed on the car?

they kinda look like water mark on the pic, or tree saps

Are you getting your whole car repainted or just certain panels? My only issue is if a body shop can truely match the paint and not have any future issues such as peeling and fading etc...

Skeeterbop 11-27-2011 12:52 PM

I think they are just painting the affected panel. I'll find out more when i go back to drop it off tomorrow.

LakeShow 11-27-2011 01:19 PM

^^Keep us posted and anyone else having paint repair like memeber jazz on his GM Z roadster.

jazz 11-28-2011 08:27 AM

they painted my whole car! if it was only to be on a oer pannel not sure if i would of done it.

If its a reputable body shop your paint will probably come out better than factory. When you expecting your car back?

jazz 11-28-2011 12:52 PM

they told me it would be 4-5 weeks...so 2 or 3 more weeks. also lifetime warranty on the paint

Skeeterbop 11-28-2011 05:10 PM

Dropped it off today, They are just doing the one panel. Hopefully, they have it done by Friday.

LakeShow 11-28-2011 09:50 PM

Supposed to drop mine tomorrow morning. I'm not yet aware what they will do but will find out tomorrow. As far as I know they will try everything but painting first. Heard the use of hearing gun to heat it up and out because it's apparently moisture. I did some research on the body shop they are making me take to and reviews are not that good. I have no choice, as long as its 100% it should be fine.
Is it not weird a few of us are getting our paint repaired or repainted in same week lol.

Skeeterbop 11-28-2011 10:01 PM

I had considered taking it in before, but figured nothing would happen. After seeing a few here getting it fixed under warranty, i think it got those of us that had been living with it to go get it taken care of.

LakeShow 11-28-2011 11:25 PM

I really can't wait to see how all our cars will come out, especially Jazz's ZR full repaint.

jazz 11-29-2011 08:43 AM

stopped in last night! its still mostly apart, they shop manager told me if your unhappy we will make you happy!

i think i will be happy!

Skeeterbop 11-30-2011 03:48 PM

Just got told I can pick up my car this evening at the earliest :D

Skeeterbop 12-01-2011 11:43 AM

Got a chance to look at my car in day light. I must say I'm happy with how it turned out.

thats good to hear!! now lets see some pics!

snow, when do you think your getting your Z back??

LakeShow 12-02-2011 12:26 PM

Went to the body shop, they said I had to get my car entirely repainted. Told Nissan I don't want repaint and I should have an answer by Monday hopefully.

jazz 12-02-2011 12:31 PM

keep saying that! i did. thats why i was payed off i think.

LakeShow 12-02-2011 12:52 PM

My car is only 4 weeks old and I'm not settling for repaint. I didn't buy this car to be disassembled and painted. Hopefully works out.
How's the repaint coming along?

jazz 12-02-2011 01:07 PM

my car was an hour old...that is whe i started! i tryed to have them buy it back and they would not.

the best thing will be...is what i did.

as for the repaint...looked at it again last night, i think it looks good! they tell me anything i want they will do!

LakeShow 12-02-2011 01:35 PM

That's good to hear. I will try and see what happens. I can't wait to see how your car comes out, it will be most likely better than factory job. Factory paint job is very cheaply done with barely any clear coat on it which is why these stupid stains are able to seep through the clearcoat and ruin the car.
