Turn knob and A/C turns on. Can i turn it off?

when i turn the left knob to turn on the fan, it also turns on the A/C. is this a feature? it's not a big deal, but kinda annoying.

Just push it in and it will switch AC on/off.
It will usually auto kick on AC depending on outside, temp you have it set to, etc.

I noticed that the AC turns on, but oh well...saves me the time to push the button to turn on AC in this 95+degree weather.

My problem is I want it to recirculate W/O the AC... I hate it when they design something so idiot proof that only idiots are happy with it....

This is so funny. Yesterday, after two months I actually sat down with owners manual to commit climate controls to memory. I thought I was alone on this issue, only to find this thread.

I agree, it's annoying that the default is A/C rather than fan... oh well.

You can manually control recirculation and A/C off -- just push buttons, note which icon has a light next to it...

90% of the time, I want it to default to A/C if I turn it on.... so it works out ok for me!

The AC on mine always defaults to re-circulate .

I believe...And I'm not saying it is so, but I believe whenever you set the control to AUTO the A/C will be on unless you set the temp to a higher value than the inside temp of the car...effectively putting into HEAT mode.
Aside from that, I think it stays on for dehumidification purposes.
