Questions about the Z

I wouldn't rely on other people's numbers. Insurance is so specific to the individual, I don't know if you will get an accurate number.
And please, don't take this as an ******* comment, but if you're in a spot where you have to take insurance into your calculations, you may be stretching yourself pretty thin.
I just don't want to see anyone get into a spot where their car owns them, instead of the other way around.

Knowing what you'll pay for insurance is a smart way to budget - I mean, that way you don't have any surprises.

Sometimes I do wonder if insurance companies just pull a number out of thin air.

There's an insurance thread around here somewhere....

Spot on kan, I'm not saying don't get your numbers before you buy the car exactly; more like, just making sure he knows that using every bit of free cash toward a car is a bad idea. It was a little presumptuous of me, but when I see threads where people don't even have jobs yet, but are thinking of purchasing cars, I worry for their welfare.

As for insurance companies, I rarely say this about anything, but they need governmental regulation. What they are allowed to base rates on is crazy.

I agree, regulation is needed there, and with the oil industry. I loved how the prices dropped a lot when there was more talk of a congressional hearing on why gas prices were so high...lol

"getting a job" and buying a new car is not smart...having a job, and as much knowledge as possible to know the future stability of said job, is a big factor. Buying cash, of course, is best!

Myself, I had a good annual review, that gave me some confidence just before I had a week off - bought the Z before the week was up - lol.

I would too be a little weary of making such a large purchase with a new job. I'd prolly get the cheapest POS I could until I was in the job AT LEAST 6 months, if not a year. Despite what the Dow says, we are still in hard times where people can lose their jobs at the drop of a hat, especially if you're "the new guy."
