OK, I was losing faith in Nissan. But I think the Z35 will "wow" a lot of you. The G37 replacement will most likely have lots of things in common with the Z35 I presume.
"The Q60 coupe shares its direct-injected, twin-turbocharged DOHC 3.0-liter V-6 with the saucy Q80 Inspiration concept, which Infiniti revealed at the Paris motor show last fall, although in this application it’s not supplemented by an electric motor. Mated here to a seven-speed automatic, this V-6 is part of a new line of lighter, smaller engines that will start spreading throughout Infiniti’s future lineup within two years, replacing the ancient 3.7-liter V-6. Infiniti is mum on output, but don’t be surprised if it makes somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower in the Q60." -http://www.caranddriver.com/news/infiniti-q60-coupe-concept-photos-and-info-news 400+ FI horses baby! Bye bye long in the tooth VQ V6, hello new gen engines! |
I was hoping that since Nissan and Mercedes Benz have an agreement for Nissan to use Mercedes engines that the next Z would have Mercedes' M276 DELA 30 or M276 DELA 35 (twin turbo V6s). Maybe Mercedes may have felt that would make the cars (including the Infiniti lineup) too competitive for Mercedes, and the agreement was Nissan to use their 4 cylinders.
Would like to see how much hp the new Nissan DI V6s make, and they still have their trademark howl sound. Anyone know if these new DI V6s are new new, or based on the VQ? |
All speculation till it actually comes out. Alot of times cars can get delayed till they feel the market is right. Nissan is busy right now promoting there new diesel ruck coming out this week at the autoshow.
Been alot of surprises or lack of from a number of car makers lately. Take the WRX STi. All new everything but the same engine thats almost 10 years old now. |
LAVA> I think the write up on the new Q60 pretty much settles it: it is using the Mercedes TT 3.0, even though they didn't come out and say Mercedes. Awesome news! Gorgeous car too.

I find it funny that there has been lot of speculation about the next Z recently and we just got some info on the possible powerplant and no one is discussing it.

blah, i'm excited that the next gen could be far superior to this one, but at the same time i'm not... i don't want to buy buy another car and pay for 5 years again lol

I think the Next Z model is going to be a Revell-Monogram.
Might be a Tamiya though, we'll have to see. |

From the 350z to 370z we saw a nice power bump but nothing crazy. The interior was a good upgrade but that was mostly just different materials. This looks to be a good bump in power, but I can see the interior staying similar with some adjustments for newer technology. |

400HP with a turbo motor will be a great starting platform, give the Z a chance against the Mustang/Camaro V8 crowd. Also, the question of weight is going to come into play. I imagine the Z will see an increase like others to probably 3500 starting weight. |
Interior is nice enough for me. If it gets a nice power bump like the 400+ this suggests, looks sexy and drops some weight, I will be interested.

but there's the million dollar question.....will Nissan go and make a Z that looks like and is powered by the same powerplant. the engine I can see being used but not sure about the styling. makes me wonder if the new nismo bumper was just like their way of a small test of the direction of the next gen styling. regardless fo rumors and speculation, I am very excited to see if and when the next gen info is released. just sucks nothing has been released yet like the Q60. makes me feel like there wont be a next gen Z until 2017MY |

My concern for the front is Nissan may go with something like this as this look is going across their platform right now. http://media.caranddriver.com/images...s-original.jpg |
