I've always felt the BRZ/FRS drove like an incredibly well engineered, high premium sedan. I just didn't get a sports car feeling out of it. That it had smooth handling and aggressive appearance was certain... but it just didn't click with me.

Which is a shame, because I really liked the body design.

Though I sold my Z, had OC issue with it, I would buy a Z again.

I bought my Z in April after owning several "sport compacts"

- '05 Acura RSX-S (6 speed)
- '08 VW GTI (3 door, twin clutch)
- '08 VW GTI (5 door, 6 speed manual)
- '12 Mustang GT (6 speed)

While I'd still own a GTI, the RSX is no longer made and the Mustang GT is too much car. I'm really happy with the Z. It's the Goldilocks Zone

I don't remember the 370Z.com poll of the same question but 2/3's would repurchase their 370. That is a high number. Still the 370 is less common to see here in my neck of the woods than every car on the list except MEDIAN which I do not know.

It is nice to be happy with an unusual and beautiful car, as I am.

I don't get CR, so I don't know how this category of cars compares to others in terms of willingness to buy the same car again. Satisfaction ratings for performance cars in the 60%+ range seems high (although I'd bet not as high as those purely seeking reliability in a car).

There's no mystery here. The 370Z is 6 years old and overdue for a refresh, going up against a lot of shiny new cars whose owners are still in the "honeymoon" period. Also, the type of person who buys a Fiat 500 or V6 Mustang (and thinks those are legitimate "fast" cars) probably isn't the type of person who would be shopping for a Z or C7 Corvette, so take any survey like this with a grain of salt. I'm always especially amused by MotorTrend "car of the year" which pits GT-Rs against the mighty Golf GTI and Focus ST.

I agree the numbers seem overall extremely high, except maybe for the FR-S. I thought all Scibaru owners were under the impression that their car was better than a Veyron...

My guess is that the poll was influenced by two categories of Z owners:

1) Those who bought a "dream" thinking they wanted a sports car but discovered they actually need or prefer a little more "comfort," a back seat, or something else that is missing in the Z.

2) Those who have decided that when they buy another car, they would prefer to go for a more expensive ride rather than buy in the "value" range that the Z offers.

But the major factor may be that CR's poll does not tap very deeply into the "enthusiast" segment of car buyers.

for 30k i would definitely buy another Z, but once we break into the 40s i'd get something different.

I think FRS/BRZ owners get a bad rap. I mean there are a number of vocal yahoo's who proclaim the most insane performance feats and this-can-beat-that numbers, but really... there are Z owners who do the same.

Scibaru is a nice car. I know with total certainty it's not a car I wanna own, but I can see why a lot of people would love it and be overprotective when someone says it sucks at something.

Although the 370z is on smexy car and is fairly "rare" in MN...I wouldn't buy again.

Needs more power, looks fast but isn't "fast". Although I did take it to the track a few times, not something I'd buy again. Although two diff cars, I'd rather trade up for a GTR than anything on that list.

I almost bought a BRZ, I liked how it drove. Only thing I didn't like was how damn slow it is stock. My buddy has a 430whp FRS that runs 11's, breaking into 10's soon.

I would never take Consumer Reports metrics on buying a car of all things. I can't imagine they get a whole lot of feedback from people that actually tune or build their cars. Just how many of these people are mid-life crisis sport car buyers who really have no clue wtf they're buying. These are the kinds of people who don't give you the wave back when you see them cruising lol.

I mean come on, Fiat? V6 Challenger!? V6 Mustang?!?!?! ROFL This is such a joke. The Civic I can understand because of the die hard Honda fangirls.

I think some of you guys are misunderstanding that chart. It's not the results of asking "Of the sports cars that are available, which would you buy?". It's the results of asking "If you already own one of these sports cars, would you buy it again?"

I'm really amazed that 34% of 370Z owners would not buy it again! Yes, it's had some problems, but they are pretty minor in the "big picture". And those of us who frequent this forum probably see those problems as being worse than they really are because this would be the obvious place to vent your frustrations if you have a problem; those who don't have a problem wouldn't come here to post about not having a problem.

So 34% of 370Z owners wouldn't buy another one. There are significantly more Mazda Miata owners who would repurchase their car than there are 370Z owners who would repurchase their Z.

Wow...
