The automatic Z launches hard and quick while the stang hops and jumps out the hole. The challengers are overweight and can easily be beat. Camaros are the same too. Once they put a few mods on them it's over tho but stock for stock the 6 banger Z will win more than you think.
But you are talking about driver skill, not the capabilities of the car.

With the 370Z in 09 it was ahead of the Mustang GTs. But when the 11 GTs came out with the 412HP V8s and then bumping it to 420HP, the Z was left behind. Then the Camaros and Challengers came out and both offer more power than the Z. Even the Genesis can come with a NA V6 pushing out 348HP.

Needless to say the BRZ/FRS is below this tier of vehicles that the Z is in. But much like the Z owners compare their car to the performance of the lowest end Porsche, the BRZ/FRS owners compare their car to the sports car on the next price tier up. People just like to feel they got good value for the money spent, in my opinion.
Yes but challengers weigh literally 2.2 tons and the mustang like 3800 or something like that that's a lot of fat *** to move around. They need the extra power.

All I have to say is the Z likes to run, and its plenty fast....
Went to an event called wannagofast, and I ran against a Porsche 911, base model, 350 HP, a couple of times, the difference was he had me by about 2 miles an hour. I also was against a Jeep SRT V8 and it ended up be the same difference.

The event was simply how fast you could go in a half-mile. the car will hold its own.

Yeah if these were around 2900-3000 lbs it would be awesome.

Oh trust me, I had my fun with the Z. Full bolt ons/tuned, almost 350lbs stripped off. It was fast!

Awesome, I wish there was somewhere around here with a 1/2 mile straight to just mash the gas for fun on

I'm talking about who beats who at the drag strip and yes I stated the 5.0 is the faster car or is it? Only the boss and up are running consistent 12's where I go and there are always mustangs there. A lot of them.

Ok... maybe they aren't as good of a driver as you are. Hate playing devils advocate, but its ok to acknowledge that some cars are faster than a Z and maybe we should ease up on the pride a little. I could care less about drag racing and certainly don't give 2 ***** about a Mustang, but its been proven time and time again from reviews that the newer 5.0's are consistent high 12 cars. But you are right, the average joe probably can't achieve that time to save his life, however the car is definitely capable of it. I thought this was a Brz vs Z thread anyways?

Go buy your viper or c7 and move on. If you don't know anything about the drag strip and don't care why are you saying something? I beat a lot of American muscle cars there quite often and I will beat the crap out of any BRZ or FRS out there too. Am I back on topic for you now?

I'm sure you have. Because everything someone claims on the internet has to be true. How come in every thread when another vehicle is mentioned, you have to jump in and talk about how much faster your Z is and how you've beaten so many of them at the track? I'm surprised you haven't started another 6mt vs 7at debate. And bro, why you mad?
EZT and tungmac like this.
