I don't want to make this too simple, but I had this issue a few times early on with my car. I had the dealer check it out and it was "vapor leak" around the gas cap. The SES light is focused on emissions. I started just pressing harder when replacing the gas cap and gave the cap a few extra cranks . Never have had the problem since.

I hope it is as simple as that. I've seen a few guys on here that claimed it was at fault of the gas cap. I find it strange that it comes and goes though..when I put the cap on the same way every timee

Keep in mind that with the arrival of colder weather the seals change a bit. My old 90 TT developed all kinds of gas vapor leaks when winter arrived only to disappear in warmer weather.

I could see that. My first SES light was in the beginning of June. Wasn't too cold then...

Just got back from the dealer..again. They said they think it might be the sensor thats causing the P2A00 code to be thrown. Replacing the sensor is almost $600. He said "but there could be other issues with it". Say what I took out of it is that they want me to pay $600 to fix something on the CHANCE that it could be the problem?? I told him forget it, I'll trade the car in before I do that. What now??

And the install is a very simple DIY.
