Think of it this way, you're driving your 6 mt trans car hard around a curvy track. You reach down to change gears and wtf, the shifters not there, it moved 4 inches to the right. 6 seconds later you gotta shift again, wtf it's not there again, it moved 3 inches up and to the left......you get the message.
Agreed. Hence, my comment about wishing the paddle shifters rotated with the steering wheel.

Also, as an aside, the gears in the AT can be changed with the console shifter itself (forward to go up, backward to go down), which is no more difficult than changing gears with a MT.

Nissan could have avoided all of this if they just did what Honda did with the S2000.

I drove Pintsize's 7AT a few months ago when I was picking it up from a shop for her. It was a reminder that the paddle shifters in the Z really are fantastic. What bothered me the most was the throttle lag (not shift lag), which can be fixed with a tune.

While I got the 6mt in my Z, the AT paddles on the Z are great! They're large and in a fixed position.

Try finding the small paddles on my GTI when the steering wheel is slighty turned.

Well the autos will bark 2nd gear and chirp 3rd just like the manuals so paddle shifters are very fun to use once you figure them out. They shift instantly and hard while on the throttle just like the shift kits back in the day.

I just found out today the new tlx has a 9 speed DCT. Honda is coming up in the world now. Also I would put money on the next gen Z will have either a sequential tranny or a DCT with no option for a man tranny. Another reason to keep my Z.
