Default NISMO Owners tell me...what you hate

Fixing to buy a black 2014 Nismo......

I know all the great things about the car....that's why I want to buy it. However, I would like to know the bad things....too.

As an example ....I bought a 2011 M3 used couple years back and in general the car is fantastic but there are some minor and major things....first is cost, cost of maintenance, aftermarket parts, cost in general, second is that I found out that they have bearing and connecting rod clearance issues. The S65 engine is not cheap and if it breaks...your out 20k so you have to keep the warranty...forever.....

........you get the idea.....

Please tell me everything you hate about your car.....are there mechanical issues with the Nismo? Irritating minor things that over time become big things, etc etc....

THANKS!!!

I hate how people gawk at it like they want to lather themselves all over it. I don't like the extra price tag.

In all seriousness, the nismo is just a base car with a few other goodies. Except for the suspension, it's like riding a go kart. I love it.

I don't have one, but I hate that you pay that much extra for parts you will end up replacing except for maybe the pretty wheels, seats and body kit. I also hate that I like the body kit so much.

That was my thought at first too. I love modding cars and buying a Nismo goes against my whole principal of modding cars. Now that I've had it for a few months, I haven't really been hit with the mod bug. I love the body kit and wheels, I might change the exhaust if I can find that's just a little louder than the Nismo.

Overall, I love the whole package of the car. Getting a Nismo wasn't even in the back of my mind. It wasn't until I got to the dealership that I fell in love with it and got it the same day lol.

Nismos are nice if you want to buy a car and never alter it. I myself prefer to buy a base car from the factory and then use the difference in money to modify it the way I want. No sense in buying a Nismo if you plan on changing everything. The other downside with owning a Nismo, there's generally less aftermarket options. Many parts are designed using Non-nismo Zs.

There aren't that many aftermarket stuff that's model specific. The Nismo is just a base with a body kit, wheels, exhaust, suspension and a tune. Everything else is pretty much identical.

he probably means things like diffusers, lip kits, skirt addons ect.. most are made for the base body kit.

Nismo lip kits are expensive!

I hated how it made me change my side skirts and front bumper from the Sport version to the Nismo version.

This is exactly what I meant. In addition, most intakes and turbos require you to drill out the air guides on the Nismo crash bar for them to work. There are also some Nismo specific exhausts due to the change in dimensions.

Welcome.....

Well I am fixing to buy a NISMO so I think I am in the right forum...
Plus I am finding out exactly what I needed....no major issues I have seen so far....plus it sounds like the mods are limited which is exactly what I am looking for...I have wasted so much on mods historically that its time to save some money..
