Lol, I had back to back mustang GT's before trading for the Z. Both had back "seats". NO ONE ever asked to climb back there a second time

But it SHOULD knock the insurance down a bit!

Actually, now that I think of it, how can the "...top of the Nissan Z35 line would sit a 329-hp V6 model"??? The base model NOW is 332-hp V6. It will be LOSING hp in a V6? That can't be right.

Starting price of 50-60k even I didn't think it would start that high.

That mid engined s2000 is sounding pretty good right about now.

I really hope this isn't true. First they say the 370z lacks street cred so there answer is less hp, back seats, and a hard top convertible.

Seems like hybrid drive trains are the future of sports cars. Great concept for instant torque, but I'd like to see how they hold up to some hard driving first.

Also given the Z's following and the massive amount of money members spend to go FI, I don't see an issue with a $50k Z if the power/handling/looks are inline. It's a niche car so it'll get exponentially more expensive as the performance increases. If it were sold in masses like the Corvette, it'd be a different story. I would personally buy one if it's a great out of the box package vs going turbo on an NA engine + supporting mods. The end result would cost about the same too. I don't understand what this obsession with $30k is. Yes, the Z was originally introduced as a budget friendly sports car, but that same reasoning will prevent the Z from evolving.

Also keep in mind Nissan's financial troubles when the 300zx was discontinued. They were on the verge of bankruptcy. Yes it was pricey for it's time, but it was also ahead of it's time and gave many cars a run for their money. This is what I think Nissan needs to return the Z to. Not a cost cutting $30k sports car. If Honda brings the S2000 back and Toyota the FT-1, this Z35 will fit right in. I would love to see the return of competitive Japanese sports cars.

If that's really the starting price for the most powerful version, and I'm in the market to spend $55k, not that I couldn't but at that price I'd rather be in a C7, Alfa 4C. The thing better be DAZZLING!!

When 300 debuted it gave a 911 a good run, the 350 did the same with against the Boxster, hell, the 350 smoked a base Boxster, the 370 went toe to toe with the cayman S, if they do make magic at that price point it better have a 911 S on the ropes.

Couldn't agree with you more b15. I'm all for a more capable more expensive Z but the power numbers this guy wrote about not even coming close to 400hp is a deal breaker at the 50-60k range. To many more capable and proven options.

A 2018 premiere (if accurate) is pretty far away. I'll hold off on getting too bent out of shape on the numbers until Nissan releases some concrete info closer to the release date. I'm hoping it will be impressive.

Agreed. I think with the recent Nismo refresh, the Z34 will be around for at least another two years.

Well you know what? My handle on the Genesis forum is "GettingOld", yep mid 30's. I sold a '13 370 6mt sport for a '14 3.8 Grand Touring 8 speed auto. I realized after owning the Z for like 10 months it wasn't all about speed for me. At this current point in life. I wanted all the bells and whistles, leather, tech, comfort and power for less than $35k. If I chose I could have bought an M4, money wasn't an issue (within upper middle class reality with a wife and no kids). Between saving, lifestyle and doing other things than buying cars, I sold it for for the 3.8 GT. Going to Greece, going on a cruise, looking at a new house, that's where my other money is going. What I'm saying is I LOVE my 3.8 right now, rumors like the Z swell about this model too. I dunno if I'll get in a new Z for $50k plus considering what Hyundai offers now, not to mention what they'll be offering in four years. Priorities and bang for buck...I'm getting old.

Well it's a lot more relaxed, more comfortable, all the tech, baseball leather, stitching, moonroof, nav, everything. It's definitely a GT, it's NOT A sports car, in any version IMO. It's way too heavy. It's definitely slower off the line. Not by too much, it's in the mid 5 to 60 and 13.8 quarter. Handling...no comparison, Z destroys it in the curves. It's not BAD, not like a feckin Lincoln but it's no Z. Though at speed, with the 8 speed auto in Sport mode, say 35+ mph, it's definitely faster than my 6 speed z. It suits me in the high traffic at 530 am driving to work. On the highway it's a great machine, passing power is amazing!!

I'm not *****ing you at speed it's QUICK. I nail it as often as possible, gear down with the paddle and hold the feck on!! I need better tires cuz the all season will put you in a wall when you put the hammer down at that speed. Need a lot of room. But fun as all hell.
