Default What I love about my Z

So far this is a love affair - 2+ years of ownership. I thought I'd try to list the things I really like about my car.

A little history first - my Dad owned a 1973 240Z at a very opportune time as I had just gotten my drivers license - it was pretty cool riding in that car and even cooler getting to drive it in High School. My Dad now has alzheimers and doesn't even remember that car, but I think of him every time I see the car and drive it.

1. The lines of the car - I can't keep my eyes off her when I walk out of my building at work and see her in the parking lot. This car crouches waiting to go fast. Do you remember doodling in English class - drawing all those sleek sports cars, and trying to draw round wheels?
2. The feel when I sit down - it really takes me back to the 70's and Dad's 240. Love the "cockpit" feel with the shift right there at hand.
3. The way the car seems to dig in when you get on it in 2nd, and then again in third.
4. The sound of the throttle blip as I downshift coming up to a corner or getting off the freeway - sounds especially great through my Stillen CBE.
5. The black cherry color is something I've wanted on a car for awhile now - love the pearl sparkle when up close and how it changes colors in the sun.

Anybody else? Let's keep this positive - there's lots to love about this car.

The fact that in 3 hours on the road I saw 20 Vettes, 45 Mustangs, 40 Camaros, 20 Challengers, 10 911s...

...and one Z. WHO DIDN'T WAVE BACK, BY THE WAY.

Fun car to drive. Every time. My other vehicle is a GMC Sierra. The Z makes it seem very....truck-like.

Black Cherry...? My last Z was Black Cherry. Beautiful color when polished. Bug splatters and rock chips detracted more than they would on other colors, I think. My current Z is Pearl White. That color is really growing on me. It definitely requires less maintenance. It tolerates less maintenance better than the BC.

The uniqueness is definitely a factor for me. When I first sat in one back in 2012 my first impression was that it reminded me of what I see from in car videos of race cars. It just felt right. Four months later it still does. It has not worn off. It is fun to drive quick, it is fun to just cruise. It is a great conversation piece because it is generally much more unique than the rest. Unless you’re at ZdayZ or a MAZOC meet. I always look forward to driving the Z and can't wait to get in, fire it up, and goooooooooo.

I attended a local car show and was stuck with 4 Dodge Challengers SRT 8
editions. These Dodge owners were fixated with my Nismo... One asked
me about the Nismo in your face wing. I told the chap it's meant to keep
the sports car down at high speed. What a weekend....The Only Nismo at the
car show....

A couple of weeks ago I drove to Columbus OH from Des Moines and saw "0" 370Z's; one 350Z going the other way on I-74 and a lot of Corvette's heading to Bloominton Gold. The rarity of this vehicle makes it special in my mind.

I would have waved back......

Great post! I also catch myself looking at my car when it's parked, or I'm walking away. I really love the lines of the car, and the color...

I should probably be out driving.
