just get some lighter motor oil and drip lightly across the entire top of the spring. you don't need to rub it or anything. just apply and it will naturally spread on its own. also good idea to lube the bearings lightly. just enough is good, don't want oil dripping on ur Z. just do it once a year. |

Replaced both downstream o2 sensors on the Z yesterday and then enjoyed some canyon carving today, definitely more pep in her step now :)
|
I finally upgraded two aesthetic items on my Z that I've been wanting to do for a long time. First, replaced the stock START-STOP button with a GTR Button.. looks sharp and was a very easy replacement (like 5 minutes to perform). I then replaced the rear "Egg-Yolk" direction lights with the clear looking bulbs (they are actually coated so they don't look yellow). That upgrade was a PITA as one has to take out the 3 interior plastic pieces to get to the one nut that holds the tail light to the body, then remove the trim piece on the outside of the hatch from the side of the light to get to the two bolts securing it to the body ... just to get to the light bulb...
'Cause Sports Car I guess... But worth it. She looks even better now.:tiphat::driving::cool: |
Purchased an Ecutek cable even though I already have a tune. It functions as an advanced OBDII/CAN diagnostic tool as well
I also purchased a Stebel Nautilus Compact Truck Horn for the Z - 136dB @ 300Hz :D |

I haven't kept up with Ecutek features, is there still no end user tuning? |

I swapped mine for Hellas |
I'm going to change mine eventually. I've been putting it off because I don't really have a good place to work on my car. It's a PITA to even change the oil in the garage I've got now. The place I'm interested in has enough room for the toolbox, compressor & two cars, with enough space in front of the car to drop the front bumper.

I was surprised at the 370z's horn. I was expecting a Japanese car horn.

I'd have words with the person that last did the oil change, unless it was you.....:ugh2: If it was you.... 100 lashes with a broken serpentine belt.....:nutswinger: |
Need a better Horn?
See a few post earlier.
I install a second horn in my Z today. Keeping the stock and adding a 139 dB Dorman , low tone horn. I know, Hella & Stebel are "top dog" around here. But I don't like that two tone European/Ricer sound. Sounds good, American. Loud, but I don't think so loud that people are gonna start shooting at me. Cheers |

Got any tips on the install? I figure it should be pretty straight forward. |

It was me.....:nutswinger: Changed it back at the beginning of October. Topped it off with the remaining 7/8 qt I had left over. Now the oil level is right under the H dot. |

Horn Install
JARblue,
I was able to access from the top, without removing the front bumper. I removed the black scroud/cover, held by the 12 or so plastic fasteners, then I could reach inside. There is a stud there on the drivers side to mount a second horn to. You'll need a metric lock nut. I also had to remove that metal piece which has the stud and the hood latch fastened to it from the left (drivers) side just to get the horn down in there. I tied a line to the horn so if I dropped it, I could retrieve it. I didn't remove the existing so I don't know how the electrical connections unplug . I did tug on it some and it didn't come right off. Judging by all the posts I've seen from you, it should be pretty straight forward. It's just really tight in there. Let me know, Regards |

This morning I discovered that one of the local law enforcement agencies now has laser radar--or at least one of their units does. It is the first one I have run into in MS.
At least I avoided being victimized, but it is a sad day nonetheless  |

Got my RJM clutch pedal.
Nobody mentioned that it was shipped with those cool melty peanuts. Just finished playing "Luke Skywalker" with the water sprayer in my sink. |

Questionably confiscated monies at work, I presume [/political rant] Open semi-related question: a couple of months ago in the same area at night I was passed by a couple of screaming motorcycles (probably in excess of 120 mph) and my Kenwood audio/nav headunit crashed. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered if they had radar jammers that might have caused that. Now knowing that JPD has laser, I am even more curious. Any possibility of that or just coincidental timing? It is the only time the headunit has crashed since being installed ~2 years ago. |
