Nice sunny day today, and I'm on vacation this week, so I think the wife & I are gonna take a little trip on some backroads through the finger lakes in the Z... Grab some lunch and head back! :driving:

He's shipping it to me thankfully. No idea when though. That'll be an hr tops to install. How's your Top Speed exhaust? I want to hear it Saturday!!!

And be sure to stop at a few wineries also hahahaha

You'll be fine. It's ridiculously easy, given you have the right tools. And beer.

Beer is easy. Tools might be a different story. Hopefully we can get our hands on an air compressor and some power tools.

Stressful? I'm just paranoid it'll decompress into my face or something.

I was holding the strut in a vice that was held to a small metal table with C-clamps AND used an impact gun to compress the spring (super retarded) and managed to not get a spring through the brain. You'll be fine.

Just struck out renting a spring compressor from both of the autozones in my city. Onwards to O'reilly and Napa!!!

DeliriousClam 05-09-2016 05:18 PM

I was supposed to pick up my car from the body shop today. Just got called and it still hasn't gone in for paint yet.

Leingod 05-10-2016 07:13 AM

Pretty sure I watched every possibly spring removal/installation and how to use a spring compressor available on youtube. Still nervous hahaha

OldFart 05-10-2016 08:21 AM

Finally had time because of a company restructuring (2nd time - sucks) to put in my upper rear brace, front brace is coming tomorrow. Have $160 invested in the braces, the foam piece cost the most at $110. Still looking for the elusive rear lower brace, but the 15+ Nismo's only come with the 2 braces I'm installing. Figure I'm doing pretty good as the Nismo bracing kit is touching a grand new. In case you have never seen what I am referring to, here are pictures.

With foam insert installed, it's raining so will have to wait to button everything up.

Just placed my pre-order for RJM Performance's upcoming heavy duty master cylinder. Decided to upgrade my rev2.1 clutch pedal to his latest rev3.1 as well :driving:

Leon, really it's not a big deal. Take your time as you do it, it will all turn out well.

I know. I just have to many "what if" concerns running threough my head constantly. Only thing I'm really worried about (besides compressing springs) is situating the top hats properly. I guess the springs can shift or something off the base at a 60 degree angle??? Idk what I'm talking about.

They only shift if you don't line up the hats properly. There is usually a notch or indentation in the hat where the top end of the spring is supposed to sit and IIRC, there is also a notch or indentation for the bottom too. Set the bottom part so the end of the spring engages the notch, set the top, compress the control arm to secure it all in place before releasing the compressor. Easy stuff.

I love the fact that my 2 auto zones were sold out of rentable spring compressors. Napa wouldn't rent tools out since they're tiny. Advanced auto would only sell me the compressor and O'reillys was closed.

I really need to move to a better city....

Leingod 05-10-2016 03:36 PM

STM exhaust might go on Saturday also!!! Much hype! Such Loud!

What did you do with your Z today VI (ON TOPIC DISCUSSION ONLY)

Don't know how you guys feel about edited photos. All my friends loved it lol but I filled her up at around 5am and decided to drive to work instead of metro. Sometimes you just gotta enjoy a cool cruise with your car, even if it means waking up early.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a5f819c51e.jpg

At Advance, you pay for the tool up front, but get all the money back when you bring it back. IDK why they didn't explain that.... idiots. :shakes head:

Yes, did the rear wall and the rear wheel-wells. Good tip on the doors; perhaps next weekend. Did you notice a big difference doing yours?

sgosh 05-10-2016 04:11 PM

Deep breath. Beer. Repeat as necessary. All will go well!

That's the kicker. The guy flat out told me they don't do rentals. The advanced auto here is just sketchy to begin with. I went to it years ago when I first got into cars and the guy behind the counter wouldn't even acknowledge me when I asked what socket I would need to remove the oil cap off my old Cobalt

I installed a 2CH amp to better power the factory sub. It perfectly mounted on the housing for the bose amp and the strut bar just barely cleared it.

Ahhh... cool. Lets hope it arrived by Sat. so we can get that installed too! The TopSpeed is... LOUD. lol. I absolutely love it... now I'm just dealing with tracking down the dreaded hatch vibration that everyone seems to get after installing aftermarket exhaust... only at around 4k rpm

Air compressor? check. Impact tools? check. Spring compressor? check.(finally)

I think we're going to be fine... and hell, we'll jsut make my son use that damn spring tool. (I'm not losing a finger! lol)

This is going to be great!

To be honest I did it all over a few days and didn't test it. The doors do have a nicer thump when closing?

The biggest thing was it reduced the pinging noises in the rear hatch.

Doors are fairly easy. 2 bolts to remove then some plastic fasteners come out. The lock assembly is easy to unhinged and re attach.

Took me about 1 hour per side for the doors. Well first one took longer cause I was cutting and pasting. Other one I just outline cut and slapped on did some touch up spots that weren't covered

Yup!!! Figured I'd buy local hahahaha. Sorta taking a shot in the dark though since only 2-3 Z's have them since they're so new to the market. Should be really really interesting.

Leingod 05-11-2016 07:37 AM

Although yours (IMO) look nicer. I love the cans on the back. Just makes the car look lower than it already is and gives it a nicer look.
