I also believe the next Z model will be a long time off. Don't be surprised if the Z takes a hiatus as it did after the Z32. A little birdie I know who is in the know said as much. Nissan has a few other RWD platform projects in the works and are putting their effort into those. The 370z was a great design and I still love my '09, but I don't think I'll return to the Z in the future.

I'm really excited to see what the next Z has to offer. However, I'd rather wait a few years for a Z that's comparable to the current Carrera S than see another "refreshed" 370Z marketed as a Z35.

If the 2016 was "just" a turbo/super charged modification of 370Z, would that convince anyone here to take interest in getting one? Or would you still wait for the 35?
*EDIT* Thinking on that a bit more... how much would you be willing to pay for that kind of option if it was offered? It adds $$$ to what some already consider a too costly car. Probably the main reason why Nissan hasn't seriously flaunted the idea... added price and too small an interest group to recover the investment. Last edited by Nargrakhan; 05-27-2014 at 09:14 AM. |

I like how the new Nismo looks but I think they over did it just a bit. Like the ZR1. I think the 14/13 Nismo looks way better. It would be cool if they put more speed into the Nismo, as its not much of a bargain to pay $10k or moee for only a 18 horspower and like 7 torque difference? Yeah it has cosmetics and some upgrades, but it really makes the Nismo not worth getting in terms of a Camaro RS and a Camaro SS. Irs just not a significant upgrade. Now if they do add forced induction, that be a sight to see. Just my opinion

For my personal use I can't justify the price of a Nismo. But I give Nissan top respect for putting together a solid track vehicle. Nissan did take too long to add the oil cooler and the brake cooler should have been extended outside of the Nismo model. But it's a solid value to have that much body bracing when you track your vehicle.

Yeah, no offense at all, I'm sure the upgrades they did to the nismo makes it an overall better vehicle than the 370z with sports package, but it's only a small difference is all I'm saying. I didn't say I wouldn't get one if I had the money. I rather buy aftermarket parts to make the Z better than what the Nismo Z has to offer.
And Rev Match sucks. It definately shifts better than me, but I like having control of my vehicle Last edited by Akurei; 05-27-2014 at 12:16 PM. |

If the new Z (if it ever happens actually) isnt in the $30K base price for Mustng GT performance, it wont even catch my attention. If I wanted to pay $50K for a sports car, Ill get a Vette.

I'm of the mind that you're right... dollar for dollar, getting non-NISMO parts can offer more value in actual performance. However NISMO is a brand name of sorts. Dollar for dollar, you can get a better performing PC or phone for the price you pay for an Apple... but there's a certain allure of having an Apple in certain social circles. That's the kind of effect NISMO wants to have. So the price is for greater performance... but equally for just having that authentic badge.
That being said: Nissan has to make sure they find a workable balance that doesn't make them too exclusive. Given the 2015 is now available as automatic, they clearly want more people to buy them. IMHO, Nissan really needs to get a third sports car. The GT-R as the +100K beast, the Z to float in the $50K range, and a $25K performer (the IDx?) for everyone else. ***EDIT*** Then again... the Z is supposed to be the affordable sports car, right? How do I apologize for my op rant? I must eat my words and look like an ***. Because for whatever reason this new nismo has grown on me and I actually like it.

On another note, google "mere exposure effect" or "perceptual fluency" for an at least partial explanation of why the car's looks may have gradually grown on you.

Hell, I like it too!! Its very sexy!! id just never buy it considering what they MIGHT do with the Z35 and other platforms out there for roughly the same coin.
