Default Use Them As Entertainment!

I have a theory as to why this happens so much with the Z. I think it's because of envy that leads to immediate competitiveness and emulation. You see, the Z is designed to perform well in every category. Even though it is not the absolute best in any particular category (except looks IMO) the sum of the parts literally dwarfs whatever those morons are driving while giving them some shred of hope that they can beat you at something.

People that mock are usually envious and the ones that want to pull right next to you and rev their engines are emulating what they perceive you are doing by simply existing. These are the ultimate compliments. Unfortunately folks with lower emotional intelligence give in to the impulses and go into caveman mode thereby losing control and acting like idiots. All you have to do is observe the egos running crazy and it will provide years and years of entertainment while keeping you safe. Don't let it get to you OP.

And if people are racing up behind you and/or tailgating, just imagine it's a cop wanting to see how good you look in that porsche, I mean Z and just keep your cool and cruise. Lol.

Brake check is absolutely no-no

The best method is to downshift a gear or two (or whatever is appropriate for your gear and speed). If they've been annoying you already, first step is to speed up slightly (give yourself room in front first if you need to) to create just a little space between you and them. They will then speed up as well, likely much more than is necessary. When they are approaching closer, downshift and watch their car in your rear view mirror. As soon as you see their car's nose dip cause they're braking, give it some good throttle and pull away sharply. I've never had to do this more that a couple of times to get tailgating vehicles to back off.

Excellent analysis. Not sure it's 100% true but it sounds good.

Not sure why, but I don't run into many moronic drivers. The occasional person that follows too close before passing or cuts back in too soon but I chalk that up to poor driving skills, not aggression. Maybe it's the open-carry gun laws in AR.

I've been known to pull next to a car that looks good and give the engine a few revs just to say "Hi!" Nice car." - usually accompanied by a wave or thumbs up. I've gotten a few "vroom vrooms" back but nobody took it as a challenge to race (if they did, they ignored it).

Every once in a while, I encounter a jerka$$. The fun ones are when they manage to cut a bunch of people off behind you to get next to you at the front of the line at a stop light. I don't have any problem making eye contact with people and my windows are down 90% of the time, so it's an open opportunity for a lot of idiots. It seems most of the a$$hole drivers are too chickenshit to even look over because I will stare them down if I saw them driving incredibly rude or unsafe behind me

If they are stupid enough to rev to get my attention, I often rev back and look over at them with a big $hit-eating grin. I sometimes even squeal the tires a bit on the launch, but then I proceed in first gear at an incredibly leisurely pace. They go flying off and I'm no longer driving next to that idiot driver. Goal accomplished

The other scenario is the ones that don't make eye contact and then still try to gun it off the line. These are usually the idiots that make excessive lane changes cutting people off with no blinker. Occasionally I enjoy screwing with these a$$holes. I gauge my launch on theirs and just see if they are gonna try it. If they do, they often don't commit, whereas I redline 1st and 2nd gear and blow them away before skipping to 6th and setting cruise control at 60 mph (or exactly the speed limit). Invariably they come roaring up from behind at 20 mph over the speed limit and blow past me. Once again, I am no longer driving next to that particular idiot. Success!

This car makes it really easy to put space between me and other drivers I'm not interested in being near. Frankly, my goal when I drive is to not be near other cars. I will accelerate and slow down as necessary to accomplish. 95% of the time it is in a safe and considerate fashion because the other cars are being safe and considerate. It's that 5% that I just get impatient with on occasion.

**edit**
I should qualify that the idiots who rev are not in vehicles that anyone is interested in hearing their engine revs. If someone in a respectable car (yes... even a mustang), came up and made eye contact as they revved some lovely engine notes, that's different. Like I said, my windows are almost always down, and I would usually be chatting with the driver in this type of situation. If they ask to go, I just respond "up to the speed limit, sure", except for the occasional instances where the car isn't warmed up fully, which I tell them.

Sounds like you've taken a Defensive Driving course. I was taught to stay as far away from other cars as you reasonably can; you never know what the other guy is going to do.

Plenty Although I haven't taken one for any reason other than insurance in the past few years.

Driving always came very naturally to me. It became extremely clear within days of getting my license that it does not come easily to most of the drivers on the road. Fifteen years later, its even worse as almost everyone is constantly distracted while driving. No better than DWI, IMO.

True. I just can't help but step on it sometimes, I'm just competitive like that. Plus I've never had a decently fast car, so sometimes I drive like I stole it. Of course, most of the time I'm right at the speed limit so as not to attract attention from the 5-0. I won't waste my gas on anything not customized, though.

I have had this happen a few times. Then my daughter bought one and I asked her, do you feel like your car is fast? She proceeded to tell me what a slug it is but that its get good gas milage. I took it for a test drive and came to the same conclusion. Why do people driving those think they are fast?

My car is a magnet for acura tl, challenger rt, jeeps. I also notice when passing people it seems they het offended and will swerve and whatever to go by me amd maintain being in front. This in traffic. When i ser this behavior and i have a chance to be with them at a redlight i do it. I then roll down my window and inform them politely that i will now be racing, and roll the window up.

Our cars launch and grip like a beast. Its normally game over.
