The consensus was that PureOne, Mobil1, and K&N (and possibly Wix, I just don't remember anymore) were the ones to use. |

their express oil change is $20 iirc, if you bring your own supplies i cant imagine labor being expensive on that, maybe $10 at most

You can usually save a few bucks by bringing in your own oil/filter but it's not going to be that much - unless they have outrageous prices at the shop. I chalk up the few extra bucks to goodwill. * Eg, not fully refilling the Ford Top-loading Manual Transmission in my '67 Mustang. Trans was trashed by the time I got home. Luckily, top-loaders are pretty easy to rebuild and the parts are very reasonable. But I was still without my Mustang for a few weeks while I ordered parts and did the rebuild.

Unless you are handicapped or for some reason it is impossible for you to find a smooth, level surface where you can jack up the car and use stands or easier still, ramps, and operate the simplest of hand tools, there is no reason you should not change your own oil. It is a skill that anyone who owns a sports cars should have. You will know it is done right. It is also a very basic skill that does not require specialized tools or training at a factory mechanic class like a lot of the work that modern cars require.
The DIY threads on this site are well done, if you have never done it before you will be quite surprised when you are finished with how easy it was, and the next time will be a cake walk. |

I agree with doing it yourself, however; I got the gold+ maint plan free because they messed up my paperwork in the beginning a few times, and get the Ester oil free because they scuffed up my interior from replacing my headliner. If it wasn't for that, I would do myself.
