Both feet are on the ground before I even touch the handle. I though dipping the handles would help but I can't go through with it just to avoid a small zap. I used to valet and most cars, it rarely occurred. The Z seems to enjoy causing me pain!

Your shoes are an insulator (doesn't pass a charge easy), bare skin would need to touch the ground. Love hurts, right.

It's the synthetic materials used in the car. Some cars are really bad - my Cecilia was the same, and some are not - wife's Edge.

There are many anti-static/anti-cling products available that may help if the charge is being built up when you slide around in the seat. If the charge is because of air rushing across the car body, I don't see a good solution, but I'm no expert.

My recommendation, take the shock before filling up the gas tank!

Nope.

I regret to inform you that it is not the door handles' fault.

However, I would suggest touching the door handle before you fill up with gas, just in case...

Never had that problem. I love the door handles on the 350Z and the 370z, wouldn't want it any other way, very unique, innovative, and gorgeous!

How about just closing the door with your leg or butt and then lock with your remote?

You can also keep your left hand on the metal body as you get out.

Static is mostly from your clothes when you get out of the car. It happens more often with lower humidity in the winter months. Luckily, in southern California, one can wear shorts pretty much year round. My leg touches the rocker panel when I get out- just so I can ground myself. I hate static electricity.

But I'm sooooooooo lazy. I have to reach all the way in my pocket. Nah that's what I have been doing because I'm really tired of getting zapped. I guess it's all my fault then.

Here are some ideas... IDEAS

I imagine lubing up your entire body with petroleum jelly will completely solve the issue!

I have static shock phobia.

You DO NOT need to buy anything, here is what works 100%.

Open your door then before touching even 1 foot to the ground make sure your hand is touching metal, I usually just grab the window pillar, then put your foot down.

Congratulations, you are now discharged and didn't feel a thing.
