The Bose Audio Package is kind of a joke and not worth the money. I could have put an amazing system in for what they wanted for the Bose package.

![]() I like how integrated everything is with the stock Nav. Granted it is not audiophile grade, it does meet what I basically need. Getting the stock Nav system's guts upgraded to deliver a 4 volt signal and switched to pre outs is do able but at a premium. It'll take a dedicated tech and audiophile with access to quality components to get it done. Speakerworks out of Orange, Ca did quite a few of these in their heyday modifying Alpine 7909's (if my memory serves me right).

A bit off topic but related since we are talking about the unit Nissan put in their audio system. Audio section has more info about how "weak" the stock nav unit is. When you set up and tune a high grade audio system, you need to set your h/u and the gains in your processors and amps to reach their maximum clean volume output just before clipping (not max power). Typical setting is 75% of max volume of your h/u with all gains in your processors and amps set to flat. Then begin to increase your gains in your amps first just before clipping and backing off a tad. Do the same with your other amps, balance it off between your sub, midbass, mid, and high amps and do the same with your processors. This is called level matching and maximizes the efficiency of every component in the chain. The head unit has to produce clean signals for clean sound. 2 volt signals are basic and 4 volt signals provide clean output down the chain. Processors and amps simply reproduce and magnify the signal. This is why 4v minimum outputs on h/u are important for good audio reproduction especially in car audio where noise easily comes in. Excellent signals from your your h/u give you more headroom in car audio. Something the stock system cannot provide when compared to aftermarket units.

No real regrets but the touring package was a waste. Only thing thats left from it is the bose radio which is coming out any day now

The only thing I didn't get with mine that I wanted was the Illuminated Door Sills.
As for the comment about everyone not getting the sport package making the "wrong" choice... I'm not so sure about that. I did get the sport package, however I have upgraded everything on the brakes, and added an aftermarket wing. The next step would be replacing the VLSD for a real LSD. Sport Brakes - Upgraded Sport Wheels - Sold Sport Aero - Removed or not installed (front chin spoiler) Sport VSLD - Planned Replacement So it's not a far stretch for someone planning to mod these areas to not see the sport package as worthwhile... Unless you wanted SRM on the 6MT (I don't believe that comes on a base right? Or yes?) And that doesn't impact me due to being a 7AT. ![]()

Compared to so many other cars, we don't have all that many options to choose from (or regret), which is great!
For the money, I'm pretty happy with what I got stock. Exhaust would use an upgrade no matter what, but it's not like you can do that from the dealer. If I had anything to add, it would be that I wish I had bought it gently used and not new, but that's a budget thing, not a car thing. Maybe a new head unit so that I can tell both the song AND artist when an XM tune is playing...and cleaner ipod access. If you're the kind of person who replaces stuff on the car, you probably would wish you hadn't gotten whatever you replace. But that's on you. ![]() |
