For some Porsche owners money's no object, sure. That's who the care is made for For many owners of e.g. the Carrera S, they can afford to daily-drive one, but they can't afford to track it regularly with all the extra bills (collision risks, general repairs, consumables, and track-oriented upgrades that even that car will eventually need at a certain level of involvement) it entails, which go *far* beyond the initial purchase cost of any car.

I guess part of my point of view now is that I've come around to the idea that there's little point in a car being any more than "sporty" on the street. Either it's a track car, or you're in it for comfort (and then it's a nice thing if it can handle ok and has some oomph in the pedal, but really who cares beyond that). Driving a Z as a track car costs in the same ballpark as driving a Carrera S as a "sporty commuter car", but the Carrera guy is having way less fun with his.

Some of you need a reality check, my word I would rather have a GT-R or a Porsche any day of the week, and twice on Sundays!

OP where is a pic of that Porsche?

That really depends on how legal your driving habits are, though. I've known quite a bit of people who had no interest in saving the fast, dangerous stuff for the track. Of course, I've known quite a bit of them who have nearly killed themselves or others doing said activities.

If you've got the kind of bankroll to really afford abusing and tracking a Porsche, then yeah go for it. But if you can just barely afford to buy a nice Porsche but then you have to baby it and worry about it and never really push it.... yeah, you're gonna find yourself wishing you had a cheaper Z that you could afford to tear up the pavement with.
Wow, you just described my poor *** and my Z!

I'd never own a Porsche (Unless it was a 918/Carrera GT). Just like Top Gear, I too think they look all the same. I don't like that. I also think it's a midlife crisis-for business men car. Just my opinion. Don't call the firing squad!

That's a lightly optioned 4s. A Regular 911 S can easily be in the $120-130k range. 4s are another $15-20k on top of that.

The cost of options there is ridiculous, but it is cool how many things you can change.

I love Z cars, but I'd take a Carrera S over anything Nissan currently makes.

I found the way you can change the exhaust very cool.

Porsche owners are just as susceptible to poorly informed opinions as 370z owners.

i had a hopped up Toyota echo that laid waste to Porsches in PCA Autocross events should have seen faces on guys who were beaten by an $8k econo box. Don't think anyone thought they made poor decision buying a Porsche however.
