Because Black/Silver/White IMHO (but always right) washes out the lines of the 370Z. Cars like the G35 have a great sillouete and black is one of my favorite colours on that car (oh and red). The 370Z has a lot of lines like bumps and valleys in the hood and roof as well as the tubbed out fenders in the rear that seem to disapear with the Black/Silver/White. Every time I see one of the two black 370Z here in town from behind I instantly think 350Z although the lines of the cars are very different. When I get closer I notice the tail lights and I realize its the 370Z.

Every other car is black/silver/white. As someone once asked me - why would you pay all that money to get a car that looks like everyone else?

But more importantly I've always wanted a blue Z. Blue use to be very uncommon on a sports car. I think the red they use on the Z is very nice and while I haven't seen the yellow in person most pictures it looks pretty sharp and its going to be a rare car since this is the only year yellow will be available. Here in Canada is going to be super rare since the rumor is that less than 100 have been sold here for the 2009 model year.

I like Blue, but would have gone Platinum too if the opportunity at the time was the same..

Honestly I didn't like any of the colors that much. I liked red the best of the choices and that's what I bought, but personally I think Nissan could do better with the choice of colors. I really love the Daytona blue on my 05 350, one of the best colors I've seen on a stock car.

EDIT: I picked Pearl White cause it looks the best.

Neither can I. That's one of 3 reasons I decided to wait for 2010.
The yellow is gone. Which nobody knows how to put out a good
Deep yellow-gold pearl coat anymore.
And what's replaced is 40th anniversay graphite which is a charcoal type color.
And second is black cherry.
These are 2 colors not seen on very many cars since the late 90's and I'm hype cuz it would be really nice to break the monotony of the same black, white, silver, grey. Its boring already.
The monterrey blue is nice but too light. If it looked in person the way it looks in pictures...
I'd be all over it. In person it looks wayyy feminine.
I wish Nissan made the Daytona blue and midnight blue of past Z's.
Those I feel were some of there hottest colors.
The red Z appeals to me and its uncommon cuz of police attraction so its iffy but I'm considering it...
Right now I'm considering
2010 black cherry
40th graphite
Solid Red
And if I went basic color, ill go black.

No doubt. The only woman that ever drove my 280ZX was my GF at the time. She's been my wife for the last 13 years. She's also the one who said go for it on the 370Z and just yesterday my ground up restoration 240Z

White is, has, and always will be the best looking color on any car except a Ferrari. On top of that, no other color looks as good when modded. The way carbon fiber, red racing-seats, titanium exhaust, red calipers, black/gunmetal/ploshed wheels, etc. look contrasting against white is above all else.

The above is a fact, and not just my opinion.

I've always wanted a black on black car, though I am regretting my decision a bit now that I've seen the Blue ones in real life.

Only time i regret black is when i have to get into the car on a 110 degree day while it sat on black pavement for some time. I am thankfull i dont have leather in that scenario.

The other time is every now an again when detailing i have to put extra work to remove water spots that i never would have noticed.

But the pay off is when i shine like a star. I love how my car some times looks like black marble.
