For the longest time the Evo X was on the top of my list for my car search. It still tends to be more practical with the back seat and has more trunk space. Especially, when kids are part of the equation. The AWD also helps for Chicago weather. Its cheap to mod, relative to the Z. My brother in law has a 600hp built motor Evo. I think he spent 2k to 3k on it, he loves that thing.

However, I have come to the conclusion that the Z is going to be my next car. It just look devious, and has over all better fit and finish. I bought the wife a mini-van for traveling w/kids and running around for errands.

I have been driving my 10 year old Honda accord as my daily, and it still continues to run great. So the Z works out really well for me. It's going to be my project car for the foreseeable future.

I drove a 2014 Touring and found that it was much better then what I had expected. Especially compared to my 90zx NA. Power in stock form is plenty (This perception will probably change once the mod bug hits, remember I drive a 4cyl Accord). It handles amazing, and the ride is actually not that firm.

Good luck w/your search.
To sum it up other than the performance of the car it doesn't feel like a sports car if that makes sense. For what I use the car for it doesn't fit me. It doesn't feel well built at all my car feels like a mickey mouse car although I bought it brand new idk how to describe it. You have to own one for at least a year to know what I'm talking about. Random new interior rattles start popping up, gearbox always grinds, horrible mpg city driving (not saying the Z gets good mpg, but it is slightly better). However, whatever car I get really can't compare to the evos overall performance. Still deciding on what I really want to do. I also don't like the look of the car. I can't develop a bond with my car... Idk what it is. On the freeway the car drones horribly as 65-70 mph translates to 3.5k rpms and everything in the car is just rattling and the horrible stereo can't cover it up, and if I do turn up the stereo it just rattles even more.... -_-

I feel like since their isn't much you can do to the Z power wise I don't have to really worry about mods other than basics.

^^ It really does seem the Evo X isn't for you. I understand the "not bonding with the car" scenario. I've had plenty of cars that didn't make me want to look back whenever I parked them. It may sound silly, but I ended up selling those cars at a loss, just so I could drive something I somewhat enjoy. Performance is important, but it isn't everything to me. I prefer to drive a car that evokes my passion for driving. Both cars in my sig did just that.

Nop, the only thing some people complained about is, the pedal having a little of side play when not engaged. My advice:
Remove the spring
Test out how it feels
If you like it: a. Buy the spring b. Stay without the spring

Exactly you hit it spot on. My friends s2000 was so much more fun to drive than the Evo it almost made me want to buy a s2k :O I hope the 370z feels like your actually driving the car and not being on top of it if that makes sense.

I know exactly what you mean!, take the Z to a curvy road and she will answer your question and put a smile on your face.

For the op...
After I completed the following list, my Z's clutch feels great! I only get clutch chatter when going up hill.
Also note, I've never removed the "helper spring" and don't plan to.

1) DOT 4 hydraulic fluid
2) removed clutch line restrictor and replaced w/Dorman brake line union
3) Z speed CSC and SS line
4) Input shaft greeezed with MANLEY Xtreme pressure lube
5) Xedy clutch/PP/single mass flywheel
6) FSM clutch pedal adjustment
7) FSM clutch air bleeding procedure

There is actually a very minor side effect if you take out the clutch helper spring.

Removing the spring can cause cruise control to not set your cruise speed properly. You'll still be able to turn on the CC, but may not be able set the speed.

Reason for this is because removing the spring causes the clutch pedal to loosely fall few mm. (Note: Pressing the clutch even just few mm while on CC disengages the cruise, just like applying brake).

That being said, that very little drop on your clutch pedal will fool the cruise control, making it seem like the clutch is applied. (To put it in another way, it's like trying to set your cruise control speed while applying the brake, it's not gonna turn on)

It may not happen to you. But I had that happen few times. My cc works for the most part. If it doesn't, I just tap up the clutch pedal using my foot and then set it.

It's really no big deal at all. But don't be so alarmed if your CC doesn't work without the spring.
