I think the issue with the AT us that if you're in M-mode, and you floor it, nothing happens... You have to either downshift manually, or take your foot off the gas, go into D, and floor it again.
That's the only way the auto skip shifts really, while in a manual, if you were in 5th going 40, you can skip to second quicker than you can with the auto in M-mode.




Now that I reread your question, and I realize my answer doesn't have a damn thing to do with your question... If I KNOW I am going to drive aggressively, and I'm driving in M-mode, I will take it to the line
