If you read between the lines, as well as the video on the idx, the implication is that the next "Z35" will be based on a more powerful version of that...

Meaning -- they are basically pretending that the FR-S/BRZ are "midlife crisis cars" (they are not), whereas the new idx shitbox will be targeted for the icrap "Generation Z" kids who can then design their car anyway they like (allegedly).

I refuse to believe that sh*t box IDx is a next gen Z car. Is that what Nissan is eluding to? It wont be the Z35 right? Seriously, Im confused.

Well they are saying the IDX is based off of the Datsun 510. I'm not sure if this falls under a new gen Z. Because wouldn't it be a Z35?

I am honestly lost. They were so many rumors about a Z35 being unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show tonight and no sight of one. I think they are wasting their time with the IDX. It's hideous...

I don't hate the idx, and in production it would be less "futurist" but I would not give up the z34 for it...CMON NISSAN.

Same, its neat but glad i got a 370. Ill without a doubt be hanging onto my z34 if this the future of the fabled z car. I just dont think it can be. Nissan KNOWS the fans of Z cars will not accept it as a replacement. Then again, maybe with all their market research they are pandering to the kids now. Very confusing.

im guessing everyone had a seizure and forgot that there are still 2 world debut cars from Nissan waiting to be unveiled at the LA auto show according to the LA auto show website...i very much doubt that the IDx Nismo is the next Z car as from everything that has been said thus far by nissan has been that they are going back closer to the roots of the Z ala 240Z for the next design of the Z car and as anyone with half a brain can tell, the IDx is very far from what a 240Z looked like and closer to the datsun 510....i do find it funny and very shallow of some people to put down the looks of the 510 though seeing as it was and still is regarded as a good looking car to alot of people including myself and quite a few others on these boards
