If you had to buy a battery today!??

If you had to buy a battery today which would you buy? You can only pick from this list! We've all heard Deka makes Braille but it looks like Autozone

If you had to buy a battery today which would you buy? You can only pick from this list! We've all heard Deka makes Braille but it looks like Autozone and Advanced carry AGM or Dura Last and the specs are 100% the same as this Deka picture and the model numbers are even the same!

PS I've owned the Braille 15lbs before and was fine. Seems I'd have to get the ETX20l to match that battery.

For example here's Dura Lasts battery at AZ http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=178908_0_0_

i think mr.gale recommended the ever-last or some cheepo from walmart.

i would get that.

...OR... take good care of your battery and it will last a long time.

Ok maybe I need to have more info. This is a light weight racing battery used for DD use. Again I've had the 15lbs Braille before so I guess ill get the etx20l.

oh... i didn't see that you wanted light weight.

honestly unless you remove around 100lbs, you wont notice much difference.

I had a Odyssey PC680 mini battery in my EvoIX for over three years. I had to run due to a short route IC pipe. Never had a hiccup or starting problem before I sold it. This was in HI and SoCal, so I cannot comment on CCA relability. I am pretty sure it was on par with the Braille you used before.

This topic is of interest to me as I plan on replacing the battery in my soon to be 4 years old '09 this weekend. My preliminary research is to stay away from Optima and that batteries made by Deka are good. I live in SouCal and there are AutoZones everyone. Their Duralast Gold is supposed to be top tier. I am not interested in a low weight racing battery just a reliable, quality replacement battery. Here is the Autozone one that is made to fit the 370Z:

Duralast Gold/Battery (35-DLG) | 2009 Nissan/Datsun 370Z 6 Cylinders 3.7L FI DOHC | AutoZone.com

I'm sure going to check the measurements though before I get home and find out it's too tall for example. Other suggestions or comments ?

I am now running Odyssey PC680 battery that I also relocated to the trunk. Starts up just fine. Best price I found was $115 + shipping.

I got mine (Nissan) from the dealer, installed and cheaper than Auto Zone or Advance with a 60 months warranty period.

Well... I don't buy auto parts from WalMart, but if they have a name brand battery and a good warranty, then go for it it guess.

After 10+ years of selling/installing Optima batteries I will say that I would only put one in my car if I was given one for free.

Odyssey batteries are worth looking into.

My battery has shown no signs of weakness and I keep the water level topped off. It's a daily driver. My experience with car batteries has been that a 48 month battery always seems to last between 46-50 months. They give little warning other than "oh, the car turned over a little slower than usual" and 2-3 starts later it's deader than a mackerel. I prefer a PM approach, I would hate to be somewhere and have to call for a jump or tow.
I also figure that the high temps we have in SouCal are pretty rough on batteries even though cold starting amps are pretty much immaterial most of the time.

if you are still under factory bumper to bumper warranty the dealer will prorate a new battery with no cost to install. I got a $130 Battery for $80 installed from the dealer. Not lightweight but i have a battery that i don't have to replace for another 3-4 years.
