read up on the thread, it's just common sense that if you remove it, and the parts are loose that wear and tear can damage it. Do whatever you want, it's your car man. I'm not taking chances, the spring keeps it all in place snugly. And is very much an improvement and it was concluded that it's just as effective as no spring. So why remove it (with risk of damage), to save $15? This isn't a Civic. Do it right.

This mod is common on the Z and on the G as well, and I have yet to hear of a failure as a result of running without. My advice would be to try it without. If you like it... great. Run it that way. If you like it but are worried about the limited speculation of possible long term negative effect... buy the weaker spring.
