Anyone come from an RX8 ?

z has better mpg, reliability, build quality, and power. somehow mazda missed the mark with that rotary. usually with an engine you can have 2 of the following 3 things.

coming from an rx8, you will want to get intakes and test pipes on a Z to smooth out the way up in the rpm's so it doesn't feel super coarse compared to the rx8.

evo x is much more mod friendly. it will "feel" faster with the same hp since it has more torque. it doesn't quite have the looks of the z, but can be driven year round, and haul more people. not bad cars, but i like the more exotic look and feel of the z. plus the nissans interior is miles above the evos

i feel as far as quality and finish, the nissan is far above a mazda or mitsu. fun to drive is completely opinion based.

i agree with you on that. I think the z is a true sports car. Meant to be abused and perform like a sportscar. Whereas the evo is sedan with lots of power, dont get me wrong the z is plenty fast but the evo will respond to mods better as you said. The Z is a sexier car and im starting to lean towards it right now. I would sacrifice the AWD and slightly better power capabilities for a style with decent power.

The Z is more than mod friendly as long as you have the cash. You'll be at around 300-330whp (depending on the dyno) with full bolt-on's and tune. Twin turbos will get you bigger gains, but you'll end up spending $10k-$15k. To be honest though, bolt-on's are enough for me since it's mostly a daily driver.

My buddy has an s2k and yeah it is small inside, like really small.

Yeah, once the Z is a second car, then the track toy/occasional street rat build investment can commence.

Just saw a white evo x while i went out to grab a bite. It didnt look that nice to me. Its a nice looking and ive seen some really nicely done ones on instagram etc but i think the nismo 370z blows it away in terms of looks.

Anyone wanna give me their opinion on whether i should get the engine replaced under warranty before selling ? If i get it replaced i will probably hold on to it a bit. If not ill sell it as is and pick up a used civic while i save for the nismo.

From what i heard if i were to trade it in it wouldnt matter. If i sell privately it might. You guys think i would get more money selling as is or with a new engine ?

I know no car is perfect but i would think NIssan would be better quality.

Any input is greatly appreciated
the 370Z has small issues like trunk not working either.... LOL

It depends on the dealership youre dealing with. Some will give you more money, some will take whatever and just sell it so you just gotta see. Its all about your negotiation.

Within the first week I knew I had made a mistake for the type of driver/owner I am.

Low on power, horrible mileage, cheap plastics, oil consumption to the max, terrible build quality, water in tail lights, pain to maintain, etc... Upside - 4 doors, it was light and handled well once you got it going.

The Z is in another league. Design, materials, build quality, engine, - everything. Think of it like if you were comparing our Z to a Cayman or 911. That's how far a step up it is.

Most Z's are fairly bullet proof. The only chance you have of getting a decent price is to have the rotary engine replaced under warranty.

Can you elaborate more on that last part ?? You mean getting a decent price selling my 8 with a replaced engine ?

Well, if you can get an engine replaced under the warranty for free then why not?

IMHO, the evo x is a bada$$ looking car. I like it. If done it right it's so sexy.

But I admit the 370z is a better looking car. I've got countless compliments on the car from all ages. BOTH girls and guys take pictures of my car makes me thinking of a new bussiness. Sometimes I fell this car just gets too much attentions...

As far as the performence and mod friendly. Evo x is not much faster than the 370 stock to stock. It might feel faster because of the turbo. But yes, evo will gain more power from the bolt-ons compare to the 370. Thus the mods on Evo is cheaper under 500whp. That said, if you want anything beyond 500whp, both Evo X and 370 are expensive.

^ Essentially i want a 400whp that can be daily driven in the summer and stored in winter. I can always TT the Z with the GTM kit but that would mean keeping the Z for a while .

Another thing is that 400 whp can be achieved with the evo for probably about 5 grande give or take. With the Z i believe you would have to boost it to get those numbers which usually costed about 8-10 grande ffrom what ive been reading.

Leaning towards the Z alot more right now. The evo x is a mean looking beast but its no sports car.
