Just change the oil, do the maintenance and drive. My wife will never give up her Maxima. It's a great car! Again no issues from the factory. Not even a ding or nick in the paint on delivery. Same went for my 350Z and 370Z. Not a nick, ding or flaw in the paint. GM - Blah. I had to have them re-spray the car the first week of ownership. Bought that at night. Paint drips, light paint, panel miss alignment. Yuck.... But, it's all sorted now. I hope that Ford has come that far. Like I said, I was a Ford brat. I was fortunate enough to have a new Ford car every year for 20+ years. Always some defect from the factory. Generally, fit and finish related. I don't see that it changed with my friends car either. The dash went wacky on him early on. Every Ford I know of has some problem from the factory. The exception may have been my 1986 Ford Taurus. I can not recall anything wrong with it from the factory. My friend's 2012 Mustang is going to be lemon lawed due to the engine light going on and engine miss-fires anything over 5Krpm and Ford can not figure it out. The paint on my Nissan's has always been good. I claybar them and wax them regularly to make them perfect. Here is a picture of my 1984 AE with factory paint: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...E/DSC01828.jpg and my '86 Turbo paint: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...Picture002.jpg On the other hand: The paint on my '99 Sable and '87 Mustang Turbo faded and clearcoat bubbled after 10 years. To each his own and I'm OK with that. |

Just saw your newest edit. My issue lies 100% in the fact that you are making things up and 0% is about "mustang vs X" Post the article you keep referencing and I will have zero issue with your claims:tup: |

I'm not talking Mustang vs Z here, I'm talking about the fact that you've completely fabricated an article. I'll sweeten the deal. Find the article by the end of today, I'll paypal you $750 and never post on the forum again, deal? I really hope the article includes support for this line: Quote:

What cuz i said LA has a large advantage on SOME tracks but IRS overall is a better suspension???? Get over yourself. |
Once you actually get on the track is when you realize that none of this sh1t even matters. It's more about driver experience/skill than anything else. You could give the same car to 10 different drivers on a track and get 10 wildly different times.

If I want straight line power I go for the Mustang, Firebird, Camaro or Vette. Especially if I'm going to gut it. Who cares about the interior then? If I want tossability I'll go with the Z. The Vette with magnetic ride is close but, it is so much bigger that it's not as nimble as the Z or transitions as well in my opinion. However, I have not had both at the same road course ever. The competition mode on the Vette might make a difference on the track. However, on the street I'll take the Z every time for ease of use, getting around and parking situations. Those big doors on American Muscle suck. |
Unless you guys have been under a rock for the past 3-4 years... you would realize that GM and Ford are pushing their muscle cars into the sports car realm.
Thus the comparison... because aside from whatever image you may have in your head... they are infact comparable in a multitude of ways... |

I always thought that the Corvette was classified as a sports car and not a muscle car. I certainly don't think of the Corvette when I think of muscle cars.

In my head, I still view the Mustang as a sporty muscle car not a sports car. Especially, after my recent experience. My friend is so upset and I have had it with Ford service. |
did the OP get that camaro like I said?

The mustang G's are .95g which is great for a car of that size. But that G, is a track recorded grip level. On the street, that same exact brembo'ed and suspensioned Z drops to .87g which again, .87g on the street is great. But the lowest out sport models get on the street is middle 90's. Our cars still corner way better. Our steering feel is way better. Turn in feels way more precise and and flatter. As good as the stang is its just not up to snuff in handling. But it does kick *** compared to its muscle bredrin. These are your quotes that started this. Look at the top post, then look at the history u brought. The first post is today... The second you dig up from years ago... How does it relate? What are you proving? You classically brought the convo back to mustang. |

I can't read the way you have the post quoted, suffice to say it does cover your "street vs track" grip claim. |

Back on topic, tough call OP. Before buying my Z, went to the Ford dealerships here to see if I could test drive a Boss. Unfortunately none were ever available so I test drove the GT on two different occasions. I know it's not the same car, but the GT is an excellent car and felt faster than the Z. However, for some reason it just didn't make me feel connected to the road like the Z did. While my Z is not a Nismo, I'm sure the Nismo probably would have better feel and the Boss would be faster. So it comes down to whichever feels more like you, don't think you can go wrong either way. Good luck. |
