I'm not sure how strictly the LP law is enforced there. I've driven in Dallas county without a front plate for 12 years and never got pulled over. I leave it off because the fix-it ticket for front plates is easy to deal with.
I have a Stillen LP bracket for when I go on road trips though. Cops in smaller towns will definitely pull you over. Edit: About 1/3 of cars in my area drive without a front plate
