Tires feel like they vibrate/rub when ....

Like I said, it has something to do with the cold weather. But the main reason is because IT'S A REAR WHEEL DRIVE CAR. When the rear wheels push the car forward, if the front wheels are perpendicular to the direction where the car is going, it needs traction from the front tires in order for the car to turn right or turn left. Now, for whatever reasons(cold weather, bald tires, wet road condition) the front tires don't have enough traction to turn the car to left or right, the car will skid to the direction where the rear wheels push it to. Also like I said, you guys must have had the same experience when you push a shopping cart while the front wheels suddenly turn into a different direction thus you feel the rubbing and skidding.

I notice an extra 'stiffness' in the morning too.....the vibration might cure my stiffness after a few minutes.


Seriously: fat, unconditioned, front tires on a RWD will do this for maybe a couple blocks until all the rubber is exercised and softens after sitting for more than a few hours. The phenomena is more present in colder conditions.

If it lasts more than a couple miles and you're not in the Artic, seek a mechanic.

Yes tires are't warmed up = less grip then the normal condition. Road is wet, tires are bald, temperature is low will cause the same effect. And I was explaining why it will happen to a RWD not often on a FWD. You don't have to buy it. And sorry for the caps.

Finally some relieve, I was ready to remove my 20mm spacers from the front thinking it had to do with that. I also get it while coming out of my driveway and turning the wheel all the way while cold or from a parking spot. And it did start doing that this winter.

I don't know exactly what it is (maybe because the front tire sidewalls compress more when you do sharp turns, and these are really low profile tires without much of a sidewall?). All I can tell you for sure is that my car does it in any weather, including warm/hot, that we get here in SoCal (and SoCal doesn't get cold weather, at least not where I live). And it sometimes happens when the tires are warmed up.
