The 370z confuses me...

Okay so basically I'm looking to sell my Eclipse (don't buy one they're horrible), and get a new car. I've narrowed my choices to either a 370z or a first gen CTS-V. What I don't understand is, the Cadillac, even though heavier, does 0-60 in 4.7 and the Z with only 270 torque, also does it in 4.7

How is this possible? My Eclipse has 260 torque and does 0-60 in the high 5s. How can a car with 270 torque be equal to 60 with a car that has 395??? ( the V)

the 370Z is lighter than both cars you mentioned thats basically the gist of it

Because it does, who cares about 0-60?

Get a Z. You're talking 1st gen cts v (that's 04 - 07) not the one's in the last 3 years. Unless you want a big trunk of course.

Lol I care about 0-60, because I want a car that I can take to the track, then when I get bored of the track go to the drag strip. And vise versa. I simply asked 0-60 because I'm assuming the 1/4 goes to the CTS-V (400hp against 332).

So basically I want a car that is a track car and a drag car

There are quiet a few members here that track their Zs. Search around and you'll find tons of information on it.

There are some things you'll need to do, like add an oil cooler, but essentially a Z is trackable close to stock.

Young padawan, the forces of the dark side will lead you into temptation. Thus much stronger you should be, 0-60 is not how a Jedi lives an eternal life. Master Jedi's live from 0-175 plus. May the force be with you! :driving:

Power to weight ratio, gearing, area under power/torque curves, and stunning looks are what give the 370Z an edge over most cars in my opinion. Get a Z and do the few mods needed to properly track the car and you will not be disappointed. :tiphat:

For the price I don't think you will find another car that will out perform the z. Hands down weight to power ratio... I mean.... 3000 pounds and 300 HP? With just as much torque. That's insane. Then when you lay underneath your car and admire the bracing and stock design you will know. I still think bone stock I could take a z to the track and burn a few cars. Tracking is not so much about pushing the car to the limit as it is about smooth control through the entire movement of curves, straights. Accel and decel along with braking. It should be a ballet not a crump session. MHO drag racing is cool too but I don't think one setup will work for track and drag. My brother drags his 350 and its pretty much set up for drag. It's also two completely different driving styles and techniques.

The camaro 1LE is putting down track times similar to the $200k mercedes SLS AMG and it's $38,000. So on a track... Yeah the Z is being demolished by this. So is the mustang track pack.
