When I was in search of my Z, I specifically told the salesperson that I'm looking for a black Z. He brought out a cherry Z and told me they look pretty much the same in color.

When I was in search of a 350z, one of the sale person tried to look for the battery, he said the car battery is "internal".

I bought my 370Z at a Toyota dealership and they didn't know anything about it.
Test drove a GT-R at a Toyota dealership as well and they didn't know anything about it

On a plus note my salesguy at the Porsche dealership that I bought my IS-F and 911 from knows his stuff. He said all the sales people are sent to Porsche driving school regularly and get to test drive various models.
When I was test driving my 911 he was giving me a bunch of driving tips and showing me what all the buttons and stuff do. Now that was a great salesman! No BS, no hassle, knows his stuff

My neighbor sells BMWs PT and makes good supplementary income doing it. He bought his 750 and 525 from Germany on two different occasions. Picked out what he wanted, drove it through Europe before turning it in for shipment back to the US. Tell me he does not know his shyte and I'll show you chicken with four wings.

I can believe that, as I've had a similar experience. Porsche is truly a different breed of dealership. I was talking to the salesman about working for Porsche and he explained the training he had to go through. I believe he said there was even a Porsche specific school/course he had to attend? You definitely won't find a run of the mill salesman working at one of those dealers. The Porsche people know their product. And like you had said, there was no pressure at all. When my mom was ordering her new Cayenne, the salesman went as far as explaining what options she didn't need or were a "waste of money" versus ones that would be worth the additional cost. As I'm sure you're well aware, with Porsche, you literally pay for EVERY additional option..the vehicles come with basically nothing!

Yeah, it helps that at higher-end dealerships, they also typically don't take idiots, and they don't take entry-level salespeople usually. You gotta do your time in the lamer ones before you even have a chance at a high-end shop.

I went to the dealership for an oil change when I first got the Z and brought my own oil (Pennzoil Ultra $30) and oil filter (Mobil 1 $10). The service advisor asks why I don't just use the factory oil and filter because its "all the same". I said how much do you charge for parts and labor? He said $85 total (give or take). So I ask him how much does labor cost? He said $12. I said well I guess its not all the same then...he nodded and I said do the math. He was still confused.

I went in to the local dealership for a quote on installing my rear diff, and the first words from the service MANAGER's mouth was, " I dont even know if we have the tools or ability to do all that". So i gave him my info and left. Not a good feeling they are compitent Techs's.

First guy I tried to buy a Z from was extremely cocky. Every word that came out of his mouth was crazy fast and you could barely understand or keep up with whatever he was going on about. He was trying to sell a base Z touring for 37.5k and no matter how much I tried to negotiate with him he wouldn't lower "his" price. I did take a test drive though, and the guy was basically tweeting and facebooking the whole time. I got his attention though when I maxed out the volume on the radio station. Guy almost had a heart attack. He wasn't serious about making deal cause I was like 22 I suppose and thought I didn't have the money, so...

I upped and left and found another dealer that gave me a deal with the same package for around 29k which was about the cheapest price for a low mileage Z in south Louisiana. Even got a free paint job to cover up any dents on the car. It's so shiny now you might wanna lick it to see if it taste like candy

When I first started looking at Z's, I went to a local dealer to look at this 350z (This was in 09). It was used and I was 20. I must have gotten the most douchey saleman on the lot. He and another guy was riding around on a golf cart. I asked if I could test drive the car and he said "Well..... are you going to buy it?". I told him that I was seriously looking at purchasing a Z, and that I have never driven one. So it would really depend on the test drive. The guy said "Well if your serious, lets go inside and get some paperwork going. Then, we can drive it." WTF. Im not buying a car that I havent driven...

When I walked in to buy my Z, the manager said I'll never afford the car... 3 hours later I burned rubber in his face as I left the dealership with my shiny new car.

Just this January my wife and I walked into (did not drive into) an out-of-town Chevy dealer and asked to test drive a $73,000 2014 Corvette convertible. The salesman handed us the keys and told us where to take it to "open it up". We came back and then test drove a $78,000 2014 Premier Edition Corvette.
Get this, they only had my name verbally.
Deciding not to drop the coin on a Vette, we went to the home town Nissan dealer (in my wifes 2013 535i BMW) to test drive a 2014 370Z. I had to produce license, proof of insurance, and then my wife couldn't go on the test ride cause the salesman had to go.
