I have the Passport MAX2 now, and with the included bluetooth feature, it pairs to my phone so I can use the EscortLIVE app and connect to other people using the same app similarly to the Waze app if anyone has that. I get alerts from other drivers on the same roads I go through, it's awesome. It has all the tried and true Escort features of Radar/Laser detection, and GPS learning as well. That's still my favorite feature for false signals. Other than that, I can say that it's only downside is the startup beep is EXTREMELY loud and high pitched, and is not controlled by the volume buttons. They only control the alert volume.

No radar detector is fullproof. I was a cop in the military and I use to lock the gun waiting on a speeder. Once they got close enough, I pulled the trigger, locked the speed, and watched the front end dive of the car if they had a detector.
Honestly you do not need to spend a ton of money on a detector but you need to learn on how to use your detector in traffic and watch for hills, over passes, corners, and blind spots.
I have the cheapo Cobra detector and it works fine although it does pick up a lot more falses than the higher end models mentioned here.
If you have the funds I would say go for higher end models with the GPS to establish and remove almost all falses then after that the 100-200 range models are your best bet.

All these people who haven't got a ticket just means they haven't gone fast enough lol jk

A sports car earns its stripes with the owner once it gets a speeding ticket.

Not that I am proud of this but I have got 10 tickets over the course of 11 years. Even got clocked by an airplane...so please pay attention to the "speed checked by aircraft" on the way to vegas LOL

Between traffic school and fighting tickets hoping the cop doesn't show I have managed a "clean" driving record in case that questions is lingering out there lol.

I am 4/4 for fighting a ticket an winning....again shouldn't be proud of any of this but it does make me smile when I think about it hahaha

Where I live, we have signs that read "Speed enforced by aircraft", which kind of means that they are going to clock you, then land and give you a ticket if you take it literally. It makes me laugh every time I drive by it.

No, they don't land

They are connected to the LEOs on the ground.

Then it's not the aircraft that does the enforcement It's some patrol officer who gets a call, he's the enforcer.

I want to say V1, but it's in dire need of an overhaul :-\

Escort's got all sorts of really useful GPS technology that eliminates repeat false positives, knows the locations of speed traps and cameras, knows when you're overspeed and so on and so forth. I find that stuff more useful every day than knowing precisely which side of me the signal is coming from.

You can call it whatever you want, but when they all converge on you like a swarm, you will understand the "enforcement" part. Been there, done that...

It took you 28 months to post that?

I've got an inexpensive Whistler ($160) and I've been very happy with its range and performance. I have had to have it replaced under warranty, tho.

I bought the passport max back in July and paired it with the live cord. Took a 5,000 Mike road trip with it out west a week after I bought it. I was hesitant at the price, but after seeing it in action I was sold. I just upgraded to the Max2. A few more features than the original and also has built in Bluetooth so there's no need for the live cord. I'm in love with it.

My Redline is on the bench for the moment - I actually recently picked up a V1 and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I'm using the android app YaV1 to massively increase it's features and it is very impressive. Must faster now, better range, GPS lockouts, and lots more.

It still doesn't replace my Redline in all areas, the Redline is still the best for extreme range or off-axis shots.

I have two Beltronics STiR's on the way too, so I'll install one in the Z and use the V1 as well. Possibly the STiR and the Redline if I'm doing a run through the mountains or something, otherwise the Redline will stay in the daily.

Remember, a great radar detector is only half the battle. Pretty much every area in North America is using LIDAR now, so a LIDAR jammer is basically a must-have these days. Unless you really like the speed limit and cruise control

Laser jammer is illegal here in California
