I got a new Altima as a dealer rental for a week while my CSC was being replaced but I have the Gold Warranty plan and the rental car was free. If it's warranty work, you should be able to get one but it won't hurt to ask

Mine is out of warranty but it's bs if I'm without a car for a week. Nissan needs to step up and give a rental. I put in a call to corporate and am expecting a call tomorrow.

Don't even bother. Pull the fuse and be done with it. the replacement part has recorded failures as well. Far fewer albeit, but still has failures. The newest model Zs don't even have the part installed which is a pretty good indicator of how useful the part actually is.

I have yet to see anyone say "Damn, I really wish I hadn't pulled that fuse." Only headaches dealing with a failed steering locks in here.

The newest revision ESCL seems to be more reliable but, as 4r3s points out, there have been some failures.

How many 370Z ESCLs has your shop worked on? I'm guessing not enough to have a good statistical sample.

The ESCL is, IMNSHO, pretty worthless to start with (and, apparently, Nissan agrees as they no longer install ESCLs on 370Zs). Why risk another failure for a part that doesn't really do anything? Pull the fuse. If it weren't for the "handshaking" signals that the ESCL has to present for the car to start, I'd remove mine* completely.

* Edit: my ESCL box, not the fuse. Thanks to 4r3s for pointing out the ambiguity.

I was confused on what you were referring to here. I thought you were saying to put the fuse back in and leave it in. You were saying you'd remove the whole ESCL unit if it wasn't for the handshake. Which yes, you are 100% correct. Reading comprehension fail on my part

Default 2010 370z wont start

I have a 2010 370z that would not start , I change the battery that didn’t work. Had it toured to the Nissan shop ,the next day it stated for them so they called and said come and get . When I got in it to leave it did it again . Is this part a recall that Nissan is replacing?

There is a TSB (not technically a recall). Nissan will replace, no charge.

Well the dealership got back with me and said they have no ETA on when the part will get here. They said Nissan might work with me on a rental vehicle. Might?? WTH. Nissan in my opinion failed at this recall seeing that the service manager said this part has been on back order for months.

yah... while you are you could've just done the fuse pull or brown wire cut as explained 1000000012x on this site.

actually you still can. bring a small hammer and tap on that biotch to get it to free.

Definitely was not going to cut any wires on the vehicle. Dealership already has it anyways. I sent an email to Nissan and received a response within 6 minutes and a phone call saying they were extremely sorry and want to put me in a rental car while my vehicle is in the shop.

Edit: They put me in a 2014 Altima until the car is fixed.

Got the car back this morning. When I tried to lock the door the horn did not work. Dealership advised that the fuse was bad. They replaced that and now the horn sounds like a clown horn. Service manager stated that my horn was probably going out. I find it highly coincidental that the horn is doing this after them doing work on the vehicle. Thoughts please.
