The only contact info I see is on this page. What to make sure I'm contacting the right place to get things to work out the best. What phone number and email address did you use?

All, my light goes on and off sporadically. I will be driving and it comes on then it goes off by the time I am ready to park. Other times it will be turned on before i start the engine and the engine will still start up. It seems like this is a strange situation when I read everyone else's exp. Could anyone help clarify if this is something I should bring to the dealer? The light going off and on is annoying to begin with so I might make a call either way.

2010 27k Miles.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Which light is going on and off?

It may just be a low battery in the fob.

Steering wheel lock light. The one to the left of the message center. Sorry, new to the Z so I am not 100% positive on the signals.

That's the one that comes on for a steering lock failure, but, since the car is starting normally, I'm not 100% convinced that it's not something else.

First thing I'd do is disable the SLU (pull the SLU fuse or install a harness or cut the brown wire) - even if that is not what is causing the light, it needs to be done. There are several very good DIYs on this site for each method; choose whichever works best for you. Just make sure the car is in ACC or ON and the lock is fully retracted (making the switches) when you disable the SLU.

If you still get the light, try changing the fob battery.

So I took my car into Nissan and they hooked me up on the part even though it was not currently failing. Luckily I was still under warranty so the $800 part/install was free. I should be expecting the scheduling call in the next couple days. Glad I took the time to go over there and talk to them about it.

Keep Pushing them to pay for it!

I love my Z, but I really hate the way Nissan handle/is handling this situation right now.

Make sure you reported it, https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

Good Luck!

Default The right thing to do

Toyota is re-calling 50,000+ cars due to starting problems(i think its the battary cable)why doesn't nissan to "the right thing" when it comes to steering wheel lock problems....it is a safety issue. Toyota has had a lot of recall problems, but they seem to try and work with their consumers i love my 2010 nissan plat.370z roadster but i would think twice before i buy another nissans.
