My steering lock failed a few days ago. Nissan replaced my steering lock today and told me it was done under a recall. I can take a look at my dealer receipt later if any one is interested.

I had my steering lock replaced last week to the tune of $1200. I contacted Nissan on both Facebook and Twitter, they initiated a case number and after a few days of phone tag, this morning I got a call that my reimbursement was denied because the car was out of warranty (2010 Z, 41K miles).
I went back on Twitter and Facebook and complained and called Nissan Consumer Affairs. I was put on hold, then was told someone would call me. A woman from the "Executive Team" called me and said that there was a misunderstanding, the part is now under recall and that Nissan will FULLY REIMBURSE ME.

Recall Announced for Steering Wheel Lock Issue

Nissan announce a recall notice for the issue with the steering wheel lock.
"Recall #: P3208 09-11 370Z & GTR Steering Lock 10 Nissan" The recall will be completed at no charge to you (unless you are like me and had to have my '10 370Z SPT 6MT towed and repaired when it would not start). They also have a reimbursement policy for this recall. You have to provide the Nissan Repair Order and proof of payment. Call 1-800- NISSAN 1 to get a case number for either the recall or reimbursement. Good Luck!

Man I was just at the dealer the day this TSB came out. If only I went in this week I could've knocked two things out with one visit. Good read though- I will be pulling the fuse this weekend. Even though mines a late 2010 build and under warranty- I think it's better safe than sorry. Plus if Nissan didn't see a need for the 2012s to have it, I don't see a reason why mine does either.

I got a recall notice in the mail today.

What does the dealer do to correct the problem under the recall?

Yessir, that should be it!

Question is... Did you replace it yourself?
I know a few people did, and reading through what they issued, you'd be SOL if you did it that way
