Even with a Rev D I would still pull the fuse. I haven't called the dealer yet, but I have an 08/10 build 2010 with the Rev C so if your 06/10 wasn't under the recall, I doubt mine is either.

Call NNA

ayrton88 03-20-2013 04:50 PM

I called Nissan of North America and gave them my VIN. They confirmed no recall for my 6/10 build. I haven't checked the Rev yet. Where is it located? I did get a case # from the guy I spoke to, and his name, just in case anything happens. He also took all my information and I am on record with an inquiry. Seemed like a decent guy, but I don't trust any corporations.

It's attached underneath to the steering wheel column. You gonna have to get on your knees and squeeze under to see with a flashlight. You looking for a grayish looking box with a white label with letters and numbers and something should stand out that reads 48700-JF00C.

Happened to me

I have a 2009 sport touring. Would not start had to be towed. No recall that I have seen.

Received recall notice today for my 2010 Nismo. Had installed the bypass harness awhile ago since i had the C revision but will have the dealer replace the locking device anyway but will still use the bypass harness for peace of mind.

Mine showed up today. All I have to do is take it out of storage before I make my appointment. With a few inches of snow today, I guess that I will have to wait a while. I'll still call to have them save me one.

Do I have to put the fuse back in before intake it in to the dealer? Or will they do it?

diddy535 03-22-2013 09:35 AM

Hey this thread is like 11 pages on my iPhone so I apologize of this has been posted already.

If your steering lock failed and you had it replaced already (mine went in 2012), regardless of what revision model you got, still take it in and they're replacing it with an even newer model.

It depends on the dealer/service department. They may want you to pay to have them replace the fuse (the fuse is not part of the "recall"). I have an appointment to get mine replaced on Monday and will be putting the fuse back before I go in. I'll pull the fuse again when I get home.

Well i just got the voluntary recall notice in the mail from nissan to replace the steering wheel lock at no charge.
Ive decided im not going to waste my time having it replaced cause i already pulled the fuse.

is anyone else planning on skipping this voluntary recall work?

Agree. Cost/benefit. A couple wasted hours is worth having the likely slightly better unit that NISSAN later officially fixed by nuking it from the Z design.

Hmm. I re-read what I wrote and I want to reply to myself. Not sure if serious.

Damn SL paradox.

For real though. I have to get my recall part. Since I'm driving with a broken unit and no fuse.

For me the funny part will be explaining to them, first replace the part, then put this fuse back in. "No I didn't break it by taking out the fuse. That's why there's a recall. What do you mean since it took out the fuse I don't qualify for the recall?"

Lols. Nah it'll be easy. Just gotta make the right presentation to the service peeps.

I actually had the steering wheel lock happen to me about a month and a half ago on my way back from school :(

Steering Wheel Lock

I asked my dealer last week about the campaign and it is open. I was able to get the fix done on my 2009 Base W/Sport Z. Glad to have read all this info.
