Insurance quote from The General

I've been shopping around looking at different insurance companies to see if they're cheaper than my current company Amica. Went to State Farm and went through the online quote thing.

Default Insurance quote from The General

I've been shopping around looking at different insurance companies to see if they're cheaper than my current company Amica.

Went to State Farm and went through the online quote thing. Not good at $400 over Amica.

Went to The General for a quote. After putting in the car model I got red flagged that my Z was an "unacceptable car". I was given a number to call for more information. I called the number given and talked to a lady CSR.
I told her what happened and told her what car I was wanting a quote for.
She said "we can't insure your car. It's a super car"

A super car? Left almost speechless I said "Thanks" and hung up.

If I remember correctly doesn't the General and his penguin buddy ride in a Corvette?

Go with geico or allstate as long as you are 25 or older and have a good driving record.

Super car?

State Farm may be more expensive, but I've never had a problem with a claim and they didn't raise my rates after a recent $20K+ wreck. I've had the shingles on my house replaced twice (edit: plus the roof over my back porch) with no claim problems or bump in rate.

Allstate. Geico screwed me by raising my premium by 40% when I bought the Z.

The General is one of those "we'll insure anyone" kind of companies. High risk low income kind of people. They probably have very high rates too.

Haha, what a story! I usually mute the tv as soon as I see a "General" commercial come on. I think Lemers is right though...General is one of those companies that caters to the DUI or the "got busted and need proof of insurance right before court" crowd.

geico is terrible. the general is cheap for a reason.

Lol!!!
I thought this thread was going to be you asking us if your quote from the General was good... And my only response was going to be, please stop driving, you can't afford a Z if you can afford proper insurance

Go with State Farm, they have been AMAZING to me... Post up on your local region to find someone who works for an insurance company... I bet there is SOMEONE in Florida who can hook you up

I wouldn't skimp on insurance. I figure that I'm paying for the feeling I get every time I press the start button that no matter what happens from that moment on, whether my fault ot an uninsured ricer's fault that I'm comprehensively protected. And my gap insurance makes me feel that much better on top of it all.

It's kind of like the feeling I get when I have a lottery ticket in my wallet. I know I'm not going to win but it feels good just having a chance so I figure $1 is a cheap price for that feeling. Same goes for good insurance.

Check out Allstate as well. I have very low rates with them and never any problems.

StateFarm is a joke. They were bought by an Indian company after the almost went bankrupt over Katrina most of the people they insured they denied claims. If they did pay they dumped the customer or raised the rates so high no one could afford. Then they were bought out by an Indian company.
They fired all the American workers and brought in foreign workers made them teach the people replacing them there job or be fired with no package for 3 months. The foreign workers are from India and work at low wages and can be replaced easily. All workers at StateFarm are Indian. The are ripe for illegal hiring practices. Stay way clear of StateFarm they will deny claims and or just refuse to pay you when incidents happen like Katrina, Ike, Sandy.

I know first hand many people that worked at StateFarm this is the information along with news reports that I have been informed about and my step mother works for another insurance company and she hears all the stories from other people that have left StateFarm and moved over to her company.

Check out this link.
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/insur...farm_auto.html Looks like an 80% disapproval rating.

If you have StateFarm I would check out a known reputable company and lose them before they deny you or drop you for some made up B.S.

Me I have had the same policy since 1982 with Allstate and never any problems with being dropped. I have had tickets, wrecks, boat and house repairs due to damage. They did not raise my rates or drop me. When Katrina, Ike and they rest you did not hear them denying claims and dropping people for no reason.

May be true, they totaled my car 12 months ago and they paid me $7k over what I paid for it after I used it for a year too...

And Allstate quoted me $300/month for just my Z

Different strokes for different folks

Almost itentical story here. Had Allstate since my learner's permit in '82. All the growing pains later, wrecked two cars at 18 and 21, speeding tickets in my Mitsu Starion, etc. still with them today.

That's pretty good. I'm at $70/mo. comprehensive everything for the Z and '12 Accord. Homeowner with them too though. I'm sure with enough searching, I could find something a few bucks cheaper but am afraid of the fine print. At least this way I know if the house burns down with the cars in the garage along with it, everything will be covered.

As for the OP, if I got pulled over, I'd rather hand the cop my plastic Allstate card rather than a "General" card I just printed on my inkjet last night.
