Thats an odd way to run a business. Maybe he has so much money that your order isnt important enough for a simple acknowledgment, either that or he's not up to speed on modern technology.
Usually with everything I order on line I send an email to the vendor first to confirm what I want to buy is in stock, then after I get a reply I will submit an order. I did this with evor some time ago and got a reply the same day, maybe I just got lucky.
