Here are a couple of solutions
DIY - Brake Cooling Ducts

STILLEN : STILLEN 370Z Brake Cooling Kit

As mentioned, Nissan is not going to offically coment on a 2014 model until
2nd QTR+ of 2013. Why would you torpedo sales that are already hard to come by? But there will always be speculation

Thanks for the links, but I know of the aftermarket solutions.

Cmike mentioned it as an example of something that Nissan had corrected, which I haven't seen anything on. Hence why I asked the questioned.

I thought they addressed it on the Nismo..maybe I'm mistaken.

I heard Nissan is releasing a "50 shades of gray" edition in 2014. To celebrate all the silver and gray options.
tibal, m4a1mustang and Cmike2780 like this.

According to Nissan the next Z will be lighter and they also speculated the possibility of a boosted 4-cyl.

Nothing is firm, but they did indicate that the Z isn't going anywhere just yet, and that a new concept will be revealed within the next year or two.

A 2015-2016 release date for next gen sounds about right, but again, nothing offical has been confirmed.

you know i love you jordo but i simply cannot see a four cylinder Z. a smaller, twin turbo v6? maybe. from what i've heard, even that is doubtful. there are a lot of people blogging/posting/speculating based on either wrong or NO information at all. these rumors get repeated (for some stupid reason ) and then get posted here where they become gospel. at the end of the day, we just have to wait and see what nissan announces when they feel like doing so

I stand corrected -- I thought that mention of the 4-cyl turbo was a direct quote by S. Nakamura, design boss of Nissan -- it's not.

Whoops -- sorry.

The rest, I believe is an accurate summary of what Nakamura said.

The overall idea for 2015 Z is to make it lighter and more efficient, chance they'll drop V6..

2015 Nissan Z May Be Lighter, Leaner

Point blank, you will have to wait and hear the official word from Nissan. In the mean time you will have to know that I'm driving my '09 having a blast.

Whoa -- hang on, check this out:

Next Nissan Z-car | Auto Express

Nissan boss spills the beans on the replacement for the 370Z, and it will be lighter and more efficient

Nissan is downsizing its Z-car. When the replacement for the 370Z arrives in 2016, it will be smaller, lighter and use an efficient four-cylinder engine for the first time – making it more of a spiritual successor to the 240Z.

Vice-president Andy Palmer told us: “We will always produce a Z-car, but to make the next model more relevant in the current economic and environmental climate, it will need to use a four-cylinder engine.”

This is a big change for the Z-car range. Ever since the 240Z arrived more than 40 years ago, it’s had a six-cylinder engine. Enthusiasts shouldn’t worry just yet, though. Palmer explained: “We may also offer a six-cylinder version of the next Z-car, but only in very limited numbers.”

It’s likely any four-cylinder Z-car will use turbocharging to ensure thrilling performance, but with significant gains in economy over the current V6 370Z, sales of which have stalled recently due to spiralling fuel prices.

There are a couple of potential engine options available already through the Renault-Nissan alliance. Nissan’s own 1.6 turbo from the Juke could be tuned beyond 200bhp, while the 2.0-litre turbo from the Renaultsport Megane 265 is another option.

What’s more likely is that the next Z-car will feature an all-new engine, and it could come from Renault-Nissan’s powertrain tie-up with Daimler. At the recent Paris Motor Show, the companies announced they were working on a range of turbo petrol engines, the first of which will go into cars from 2016 – which is when the 370Z’s replacement is expected to arrive. The car could also get an efficient new automatic gearbox, which is also being co-developed under the Daimler deal.

The use of a four-cylinder engine for the first time in a Z-car should see a change in its naming strategy. Until now, names have been based on the car’s engine capacity, but this may not be so relevant with a turbocharged engine. Nissan may follow Renault and use the car’s power output in the name, or the new car could simply be called the 240Z in honour of the original.

As our illustration shows, it’ll get the familiar Z-car muscular wheelarches, a swooping coupe roofline, aggressive nose and short rear overhang. The body will be made from lighter materials, such as aluminium alloys and thinner stronger steels, for greater efficiency, and this weight saving will mean improved agility.

A Nismo model will be available with tuned suspension and a slight power upgrade. This could also have a limited slip differential – like the Toyota GT 86 – to ensure it’s ready to use as a drift car right out of the box.

This might be the rumored "smaller" Z. I can't imagine a Z with less power than the 370 for the next gen, no matter how light they make it. Smaller displacement turbo 6-cylinder is still my guess. Enthusiast that will buy this car will be surely disappointed if its less powerful. By the time the FRS/BRZ fad wears off, most will crave more hp again...heck they already do. A new, more "sports car" mustang is also on the horizon and I doubt ford would dare get rid of the V8.

I've said before that I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan decides to withdraw the Z from its current segment and reinvent it to compete with the FT86.

The 370Z has had a tough go as far as actual vs. projected sales numbers go. Given the future climate for fuel (high gas prices and high fleetwide average MPG requirements) I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan makes such a move... perhaps offering a NA 4 and a turbo 4 like we might see out of the BRZ.

Or perhaps they will keep the Z in its current segment but offer multiple engine configurations like Genesis, Mustang, Camaro, etc. I have my doubts about this, though.

As far as the V8 in the Mustang... it's not supposed to be going anywhere. Rumors for the next gen are a turbo 2.3L I4 and turbo 5.0 V8. All direct injected with mid-high 30mpg highway fuel econ.
