Mt Tam I am 09-12-2012 04:43 PM

I once did whatever one handed: 12 6, 10. Rarely two hands. I was famous for driving with my knee while taking mild turns, which I learned from my dad. My father would be considered a bad influence today. Boy I miss him.

I made myself drive at 9 and 3 and now it is a habbit that is hard to break. If I do it is one hand at nine. The reason is to know where your wheels are pointing when you come off the track or road. Trying to guess in the moment can be fatal.

I drive with my knees when I blow my nose while driving :ugh2:

True story.

Left hand: 10 and 3
Right Hand: 9 and 2

EDIT: Middle: NO HANDS

Do you guys not find that 9 is a little low when shifting? If I was to grab the wheel comfortably by left hand would be at 10, but at 10 you dont have the "spoke" of the steering wheel to grab onto and I can easily see my hand slipping on the wheel (just as I could at 12).

This is why I like 10 and 3, good grip on the wheel not too high not too low, and shifting hand close enough to draw fast... :driving:

I think I might be the odd one out: left 8 or 7, right 2. besides 9/3 for the curves.

I was taught 9 and 3 by driving instructors in a special driving class. Also gives you the widest turning radius without letting your hands off the wheel. We we learning in automatic of course for aggressive driving. Serpentine, slalom, etc.

always 9/3. Never keep my hand on the stick.

This is correct

Drex 09-12-2012 11:08 PM
