Genesis Vs. 370Z

While most of the enthusiast on this site will say the genesis is not competition, the general public will probably prove that the genesis will be a strong competitor with its low pricepoint. Remember that competition is a good thing, it forces car makers to make higher quality cars for less money.

Horrible!!! On par with the Z performance wise, but no where near quality or style. Yes it is 10k cheaper, but there is no way I'd spend 20-25k on a damn Korean made junker. It's like the old joke, "Whats the difference between a Jehovah's witness and a Hyundai?" you can slam the door on a Jehovah's witness.

They are not going to be on par performance wise. the Genesis has 30 less hp and 300lbs extra.

Hyundai is starting to make some good cars with good prices, not to mention some lame styling, but still........at the end of the day, if you where to ask ppl what is one bad thing about Hyundai, everyone would say "IT'S A HYUNDAI !!"....there reputation is still in the drain and has to be flushed out to start fresh.......hahahahahaha.......

(what a cheesy comment i made at the end)

This is funny. This same topic was posted on my350z not long ago.
Honestly, the Genisis will do ok in it's own world. It will sell to those kiddies who can't afford a 370Z.
But at the end of the day the 370Z is still the better car.

I think it's a valid point that BanningZ makes. Hyundai has brought the Genesis Coupe to market precisely because they feel there IS a market for the car, and I think they are correct. There are plenty of folks who will take one look at the price vs. equipment, give a low whistle, and head into the Hyundai showroom. They won't mind the derivative styling, or the gap in performance to (among other cars) the Z. They will enjoy the big savings in cost and the warranty. Well, they will until they see the depreciation.

RWD, 300+hp, good looking car starting at 23k? I cant see how this will fail for Hyundai. I wouldnt buy one over the 370z but I sure as hell would buy it over any of the FWD sporty coupes out there now like the Altima or Accord coupes...I think Hyundai has a winner here...In this economy this car makes perfect sense imho...

Don't forget,

If you look at the 2.0T option... You have a 6speed RWD coupe with the same block as the Evo; 4B11. Not to mention that Hyundai has already said it will handle over 29lbs of boost. Granted that is a blanket statement as we don't know whether its 29lbs out of a 14b mitsu turbo or a GT35R. BUUUTTT the fact that Hyundai is touting that it's a machine that is meant to be upgraded is good enough in my eyes.(It has all forged internals) This will become the next "Mustang" of the import world. Cheap, Fast "reliable" power. The R-spec 2.0T will have Brembo 14inch brakes with 4-pot calipers all the way round, stiffer suspension, bigger wheels....etc..etc... The Gen Coupe will hold its own.

Personally I'd take the Z as I'm sure its a much more refined daily driver, but if I was looking for a drag strip monster that could get me to work..I think the 2.0T would fit the bill.

The Z is a great car for what it is, YET if you don't have the cash for a Z then Hyundai has made a car that will get you into a 2 door, RWD 6speed coupe, for less. I feel they are in two different classes. If one is looking at the new Civic SI or GTI or Altima Coupe, they might swing by Hyundai and look at the Gen Coupe. BUT if your looking at an Rx8 or Charger/Mustang then you will find folks looking into the Z.

This might sound repetitive but you kinda have this "niche" that the Z falls into. Its above the Gen Coupe, but it's not quite Porsche Cayman material, but its cheaper then a vette, and although you think the Rx8 handles nice you can't get over the fact that its powerless...so you find yourself at the Z. Catch my drift?

I wouldn't be caught dead in a hyundai but I suppose there was a time when the same would've been said about a nissan (datsun) : )

Guys, this is not 20 years ago Hyundai. For the last +15 years they have been going through rigorous re-engineering of their operations and management, and the result has been showing up in their reliability, quality, and designs.

They just won Ward's Auto 2009 Ten Top Engine of the world, Ward's Auto declares Ten Best Engines of 2009 - Autoblog,

And for the last 10+ years, Hyundai has been rated above the average reliability and quality in the car industry, they are acutually better than Infinity and Nissan.

And here are some pictures of Hyundai Genesis Coupe in South Korea...

You can't compare a genesis to a 370z, the genesis is 10k cheaper and japanese motoring is much superior.

The same comparision will be made placing the 370z to a BMW 335Ci, the Z is 10K cheaper and german motoring is far more superior. (And i am not talking about lap times or the usual 0-60 crap).

Bring it on bitches..... the Stig

Edit>- Someone hacked my laptop and wrote that. i wanted to delete but i want to know what do you guys think.
