No engine power when headlights on!

With the headlights on, I reckon that the ECU "saw" power in the brake light circuit as it is bridged to tail light circuit and the ECU interprested this circumstance as "the brakes are being applied" - the ECU won't permit mnre than nominal sustained throttle opening when it thinks the brakes are applied ... it will let you "blip" the throttle ina heel/toe maneuvre but will not supply sustained throttle opening when it believes you have applied the brakes.

Pulling the brake light fuse or disconnecting the brake lights (or in the OP's case fog light) disables the circuit.

Agreed ... but wold be a problem on the highway I suspect.

Yeah, would only do as a test, not a permanent solution

I actually had to turn the lights off in areas to get up to speed when this happened. I was mentally running through alternative excuses in my head when I was doing it because I didn't think a cop was going to fall for the ole "my rear fog light is causing my engine to not have any power" story.
