I've driven both... the manual is more engaging... the auto is more aggressive.

I say go with Gun Metal and with the 7AT since it's faster and has a better transmission.

Gun Metal. (easier to maintain)
Manual. (It's a sports car)

Thank me later

Test drive both -- the 7AT on this car is brilliant (and technically a bit faster than the 6MT).

And that's before tuning -- you can increase the speed of the shifts to be far faster than anyone but the Stig could manage.

Tuned autos are a third of second faster stock and about 2/3 of a second faster tuned and lightly modded. The Z manual lacks a little in the overall manual experience. It's no stick from a bimmer, mazda, honda fa sure. imho, the z is one car where the auto and manuals are toss ups with equal pros and cons.

If I didn't have my crappy paid off beater of an eclipse I'd drive mine everyday lol. But I must try and limit myself.

Get the stick. If you don't, you will always wonder if the car would have been more fun with the stick. Once you master it, even routine drives are more fun. In the worst rush hour, I have never longed for an automatic.
