Genesis does not put that down power well, so like you said it's just marketing ploys. Unfortunately most consumers when given the following hypothetical options and not factoring in looks/brand loyalty.

NA V-6, 360 hp, 3500 LBS
NA V-6 300 hp, 3100 LBS

Will pick the 360 hp car.
