2015 speculation

sorry if its a repost, but I hadn't seen it before.

Interesting, although I don't agree with the last sentence in the article.

The engine is the one thing that Nakamura pointed to as needing changed, as the 3.7-liter V-6 just isn’t cutting it. Sure, it’s pumping out a healthy 332 ponies, but its 270 pound-feet of torque leave a little to be desired. The 370Z can hit 60 mph in 5.1 seconds on a good day, but modern sports cars are almost all in the sub-5-second range. Moreover, the 18 to 19 mpg city and 25 to 26 mpg highway is really dragging Nissan down in the CAFÉ regulations.

does that mean its going to be faster and better mpg?

I would love to see 250Z turbo it in this z concept.

good find, i also don't agree with the last few sentences in the article.

Well take out the 6 cylinder and replace it with at 4 cylinder it's no longer a Z. All Z cars since the S30 (1969) have had 6 cylinders. This 4 cylinder would take away from the heritage if the Z Car.

I call BS in the 4 cylinder

I dont understand why it has to be a 4-turbo. why not use a 3.0 turbo or better yet a 3.0 inline turbo. Another option is Mercedes 3.2 turbo (I think they have a turbo variant of that engine at least)

The last sentence totally ruined that article for me. I mean they act like the 370 was a downgrade compared tot he 350.

that article is 95% wild speculation. I'll wait til the real information comes out.

Spikuh 07-25-2012 06:55 PM

I think the only things we can be confident about the new Z is that it will be lighter and more fuel efficient. How exactly it will do those things is still debatable. I would say it's most likely going to get a downsized direct injected engine with twin turbos. I think it will most likely be a TT V6 because even with the new Altima they decided to go with a V6 model instead of a TT V4. You can make the argument that they will use something based on the Juke's engine, but I hope they stick with a V6.

Entire article might as well be someone's post on here....last sentence makes him sound like a troll, lol.

I tell ya... If the next Z has a 4 cylinder turbo, the 370 will be my last Z car. If I wanted fuel economy, I would have bought a Prius.
