hey there DLSTR i forgot to mention. i did check out the GTI. it is a nice car, but i am not a fan of the wheels it comes with and the dealer was pretty firm on their price. it's in the high end of the price i want to spend on this 'utility' car, and honestly i did not connect with the GTI. would still get the MS3 over the GTI as i can get it cheaper and the MS3's handling is sharper and overall more performance oriented... just felt cheap doing it.

but then the issue was if im spending that kind of money on a hatch, why not spend a tad more and see if i can find a clean used STI-hatch. but then i can't locate one in my area that is stock. so im like if im not going to get what at i really like anyway, just go cheap.

i found that there's no car in the mid-$20K range that i WANT. it's either sub $18K (cheap so who cares, i will buy it) or above $32K (it's out of my range for this winter beater).

Ken,

Sorry for the late reply. I have a base model 2012 with a 6sp trans. Its loaded as is(most normal features). Sticker was right at 23,900$ new. I bought it for 20,900$ used with only 4kmiles. New but used. Perfect. I certainly understand the lack of connection piece. Cars are like anything else, it just needs to feel right. Good luck no matter what you choose!

hi DLSTR- thanks. i am still looking... but getting very tired of looking and test driving. the only part i enjoy is talking to the sales guy and joking around with him and suddenly all serious kenchan game face.

<= kenchan game face

maybe this is where im going wrong... apparenly i am too comfortable making bold statements in their faces.

Nah, I just mean when I'm using the car for 100% driving in crappy traffic I love being able to just mash the gas or hit the brakes and not worry about what gear I'm in. Plus my wife doesn't drive stick so she can share driving duties then. It's a car I don't care about, and the less I care when I drive it the happier I am.

But I still greatly prefer driving a manual when I am not 75% sure when I leave the house that I'll be going 0 - 10 mph for most of my drive.

davey- i see... perhaps i just need to slow down. i have no issue driving AT cars at night time. i like to just kick-back, check out the lights, and cruise.

yah, 0-10mph especially if uphill is a pita on MT. my commute isn't too bad so the G's MT does fine.

im going to think about this some more tonight and decide soon. the local subaru dealer does have the color i want in cvt coming to them in about 10days. another dealer has a 5MT coming to them but in silver (not a color i want). do i really want 3 silver cars? lol
