So don't think I'm some Camaro hater or something :-p. My point is just that the arguments about this ridiculous sum to get on the track are kinda silly - the cost to get the Z track ready is less than $1000, total. That's chump change for someone getting on the track - you should know this. This isn't "a lot of work" - its a weekend at most, and for many could be all be done in a single day.

There was a new gunmetal ZL1 at the car show this morning. I'll get some pics up when I get unlazy. It was nice.

The perfect car to START HPDE-ing with. It's going to take you a lot of weekends just to get even remotely close to maxing your skills out with that car in STOCK form lol.

I wouldn't say that's necessarily true. It's fine learning on a powerful car as on long as you have a lot of open space to spin and not hit anything. :)

I didn't say its bad or good to learn on a fast car - I'm just saying, it's easier to find the limits of a slower car safely than it is a fast car which will not hesitate to bite you in the *** without question.

Would you rather teach someone to drive on the track in a well-prepped Miata, or a freaking ZL-1 where its a right foot twitch away from potential doom? I don't care what wizz-bang techno options are available personally lol.

I'm hoping to get to your neck of the woods next summer/fall and will have to find a track to play on. Looks like the Sandhills Open Road Challenge is the beginning of Aug. Would like to plan a vaca around it.

I would have Done a Pro Touring Job on the 69.. You cannot believe what happens when you modify the suspension and brakes on these old cars...They become insane on the track.. Value wise, it is about the same if you leave the number's matching driveline in them..Everything else can be changed back to stock by a purist who buys it...

But to me ,comparing the ZL-1 to a 370z is apples to oranges..

My Wife had to have the 370Z , and it is a very sweet car... If she wanted a Camaro, you bet I would have gotten a ZL-1..No SS for me..

But In my house the 370Z will stay stock.. my wife will not have me tracking her "baby"..

But again, the 370Z is a sweet car..:tiphat:

Summit Point (Shenandoah) is an amazing track, and I strongly recommend it. TrackDaze.com has all the deet's. I should be there in October.

I've done some soloracing. The classes start off slow and build your driving ability. They are run expecting that people will come back and develop your skill. I'm sure it will take me two years atleast until I will going out on the track solo and running at the cars top speeds for the track.

Funny how if you buy a ZR-1 , they include a driving school in the purchase price, from what i have heard.

They should throw a class in when you buy the ZL-1...

But an HPDE class would be cool...

Mine was hardly numbers matching at all. It was a great candidate. But sadly, I got orders to Fort Meade, and lost my garage that I had - a single E5 cant afford that ****, here. So, it had to go to a good home, and I sold the 2000 and got the 370 so I could start hitting the track.

ZL-1 to 370 is definitely Apples to Oranges.

If you already have a great track car, who cares about tracking the 370Z? lol

I know what you mean about finances in the service 6 years in the Marines and only an E4. Long story but I couldn't get promoted in my MOS.

Yes brother, life can get in the way of modding and racing our Cars.

Yes, I will beat the Z/28 and just enjoy the 370Z...Still a very fast and sweet car for sure...:tiphat::driving:
