:icon17: Nah. Just a curious person.

What do you guys think about a carbon fiber hood? I'm on the fence about it.

Fire 06-10-2012 03:36 PM

My ZL1 has the carbon fiber hood insert. The car I ordered I wanted black. I'm not a huge CF fan. I think that CF is growing old. I do have plastidip in the garage and I might have to break it out for the hood. :stirthepot:

I'm thinking I'll pass as well.

Fire 06-10-2012 03:52 PM

If you want a painted CF hood it might be kewl. Don't know what kind of weight savings you would get when the Z hood is alum. Somebody has to have weighed them though.

Bucketlist2012 06-10-2012 03:57 PM

All right Pint...I changed my avatar so you can stalk me...

Just call me old man Mikey...

Fire 06-10-2012 04:02 PM

You want to spin that avatar a little LOL

I want to delete that avatar....:rofl2::eek:

But I will leave it up for Pint...But once she sees it, it is gone....

Cannot have my ugly mug up there too long...At least the avatar is small and sideways.

I will post large pictures of my cars, but NEVER of me....maybe 20 years ago, but now ? NO WAY:wtf2:

Fire 06-10-2012 04:07 PM

I could do painted cf. I've got to look into something at some point. That spot on my current hood could start chipping at any moment.

thanks, mr. gale! conclusion on the rode. im returning it. i tried all the settings but it will not work to my standards without having a preamp with input/output level meter. which means, better just to use my tascam recorder. the rode as a mic is very good though. very rich sound, but the levels it only provides which are, -10db, 0db, +20db...none of them work well inside my Z's cabin nor gopro. the high pitched noise is too loud when -10dB is used. clips like a mofo at 0db. :ugh2:
they need to provide a dial, not a slide level that goes from -10db to +20db. on the Z, i think -4db to -5db could work well.

hey mr.alcheng :hello: have a safe trip! yah, as noted above, the rode is a great mic, but not for car unless you have other gear to adjust level.

Mr.kenchan, sorry to know the mic didn't work out the way you want. It's always tricky to setup it up in the car.... with all the other noise and stuffs...

Did a 4:50 minute drive in 3:50, including a bathroom break and managed 25.8 mpg.
Checked in to my hotel, debugged the front of the car with some QD, cleaned the windshield and now it's time to find some grub.

Got a great deal on some CT XP 10 and 8's. Woot

Fire 06-10-2012 07:26 PM

Kewl spohn. How are your repairs coming?

SPOHN 06-10-2012 07:30 PM

Starting this week. Have to order toe arms and a tie rod to get it rolling. Then to the frame shop

Fire 06-10-2012 07:34 PM

Hope you get things fixed soon. You didn't say what happened just that you kissed a wall tracking your car right?

SPOHN 06-10-2012 07:37 PM

I didn't just kiss it. I fu(ked it.

I went to my high school alumni association meeting, Class of 59, drove from Tidewater Virginia to north-central Ohio and back over 3 days, most of it at night, 8 hours straight on the road last night. Entomology is not what I was looking for.

I think the Nav system is a bit squirrelly. I had made a stop in West Virginia to drop off a Mac computer to daughter, and asked it for fastest route up to Savannah, Ohio. That has always been, my experience, across river, up Route 52 to 23 and then to Columbus and up I-71 to near Ashland, get off any of several ways from there, no major difference in time. But this thing may have been programmed by the Z Gremlin and took me up through several very winding, hilly backwoods Ohio roads to Chillicothe, and thence back to my routing. It was definitely NOT faster, but more in character with sports-car driving. Car and Driver Magazine uses southeastern Ohio roads as their test bed.

I had sprayed Armor-All's Bug/Tar Shield over front of car before starting out, and it all washed right off. Rain-X on the windshield did same for the glass.

On the way back, by the way, I ran into a convoy of 6 Mazdas, 2 Miatas, 4 RX8s. Must have been a Mazda car club. Also ungodly number of motorcycles on the road and congesting hotel and motel parking lots. No rooms in the inns, which is why I drove 12 hours straight back home. Two hours of which were spent trying to find a hotel with a room, and some additional time cleaning bugs off the windshield. The Nav system routed me a completely different way from prior trips on Garmin--and I think somewhat slower, but hard to tell what with the numerous side trips searching for a bed.

Fire 06-10-2012 08:00 PM

Fire 06-10-2012 08:00 PM

I'll check back in a couple hours guys.

ZMan8 06-10-2012 08:02 PM

I spent the entire day at the beach. When its 90 degrees there is no where else I would rather be! Now time for an evening z ride to get some frozen yogurt with the girlfriend.

Me and the wife just returned home from Boston about 3 hours ago. It's good to be home!

The Z did a great job of taking us there and back quickly but it's filthy now. I'll wash her some time this week before our next trip on Friday, which will be to Burlington, VT.

Now, I'm going to finish unpacking and prepare for bed. I'm beat.
