Well, whoever said that the key works on RFID may be right; but it doesn't work without a battery. The car likely sends a signal, which the keyfob is supposed to recognize and then send an acknowledgment signal.
I just did the above and everything, and you still need the key in the "fobgina" ( ) for it to acknowledge you're authorized.So yeah, your keyfob needs the battery to work.
